Today's Scripture

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

There are many kinds of seeds we can sow, but do you know what produces the best crop? The seed of God's Word planted on the soil of our hearts. The more of the Word you take into your heart, the more abundant harvest it will produce. Our job, as believers, is to make sure we are good ground.

The scripture tells us there are things that can choke the seed of the Word out of our hearts. The cares of this world, greed and selfishness act as thorns that stop the seed from growing. It also tells us that in order for the seed to take root, we need to stand strong during the difficult times when persecution and challenges come.

If you have hard or dry places in your heart today, God wants to soften those areas. He promises in Ezekiel that He will take out the stony, hard heart, and He will replace it with a new heart, a heart that is open to Him. And when you have an open and receptive heart, you are good ground! The seed of the Word will take root and grow, and it will produce an abundant harvest of blessing in every area of your life!

God Will Respond

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Today's Scripture

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

God promises that He is near to those who call upon His name. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you’re going through; He is your deliverer. He’ll bring light into your darkest hour; He’ll bring rain into the dry places; He’ll bring restoration and healing to the broken places. When you call on His name, you can be assured that He will respond. As sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, God will faithfully respond when you seek Him.

Sometimes, people think they have to clean themselves up or change their behavior or habits before they can turn to Him, but that’s not what God says. He is ready to receive you just as you are. Even if you feel like a mess, He’ll take your mess and turn it into a message. His arms are open wide today. Open your heart and call upon Him. Press on to know Him and His goodness.

Today's Scripture

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Most people won’t ever literally come face to face with a hungry lion, but we’ve all been in situations where we feel like we are about to be “eaten up” or destroyed.

Daniel lived a life of excellence and found favor with the king. The king kept promoting him and giving him more authority which made the other administrators jealous and angry. They manipulated the king into signing a law that Daniel could not follow.

Daniel prayed and still found himself in the lion’s den. How would you respond in that situation? I’m sure Daniel believed that God would deliver Him. I’m sure he hoped it would be before he was thrown into that den. Have you ever prayed and prayed for something and it looked like things just kept getting worse? Daniel trusted that God was working His plan for His glory. In the end, Daniel was protected and his enemies were destroyed.

When it looks like your friends have turned on you and you are headed for the lions’ den, don’t be discouraged because God has the final say. Keep believing Him, keep trusting Him. He’s promised to never leave you or forsake you. He’ll shut the mouth of the lion; He’ll silence your accusers; He’ll stand with you in the fire, and He will lead you into victory in every area of your life.

Why Are Old People Being Neglected Always

The Coconut Husk Bowl
http://www.JamesParmis.com

The father is almost stooped because of age when he lived with his son, daughter-in-law, and 6-year-old grandson. His youthful vigor is no longer visible.

With unsteady hands, blurring vision, and wobbly legs, he would join the family every meal.

It was difficult for the old man to eat because of his unsteady hands and blurring vision. This might be the result of years of hard jobs he took just to provide for his family.

The rice would fall on the floor, the water would spill on the mantle. It wasn’t long before the patience of the son and daughter-in-law ran out because of the mess the old man creates at meals.

“We should do something about Father, “ the couple said, “we can’t take anymore the spilling drink, the noisy eating, and mess on the floor.” The couple decided to put a small table at the corner.

Since then, the old man has been taking his meals there, while the family eats at the table.

And because he had broken some plates, his food was placed at a coconut husk bowl.

Sometimes, the family glances at the old man, and sometimes also, there were signs of tears forming in his eyes. However, the couple has only harsh words everytime the pitiful old man drops his spoon, spills his drink, or scatters his food.

All of these happen as the 6-year-old boy silently observes.

One afternoon before dinner time, the father noticed his little son playing with a coconut husk on the floor. “What are you doing, son” he tenderly asked the child as his wife looks on. And the boy fondly replied, “Dad, I am making a bowl out of this coconut husk where you and Mama can eat in a corner when I’m grown up.” You can see the innocent smile of the little boy as he carried on what he’s doing.

The couple looked at each other. It was like cold water thrown on their faces after what the boy had said. They were caught off guard and became speechless. Together they looked at the old man and tears started to fall on their cheeks.

There was no need for words. They knew what to do.

At dinner, the couple led the old man tenderly back to the dining table. And his remaining days were spent taking his meals with the family at the main table. There were no more harsh words from the couple every time his spoon falls, or his water spills, or his mess on the floor. It was replaced with love and understanding.

Today's Scripture

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Habakkuk knew what to do when things seemed completely hopeless. His world was literally falling apart around Him. There was destruction every where he looked. But Habakkuk knew that God was bigger than his circumstances! So what did he do? He invited God into his circumstances by rejoicing and praising the Lord.

He made the choice to be joyful knowing that it would connect him to the One who would deliver him!Are you facing a situation that seems dark or hopeless? No matter how difficult things may seem, God has a plan to bring you out into a place of victory. Your praise is the bridge that will carry you into your land of promise. The Bible tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people, and when the presence of God manifests, the enemy has to flee!

The Bible also tells us that there is fullness of joy in His presence. His joy empowers us to walk through any difficulty we may be facing. No matter how things may seem in the natural, you can rejoice today because God is working behind the scenes on your behalf. As you praise Him, He will fill you with His joy and pour out His abundant blessing in every area of your life.

Making Plans To Succeed

Saturday, October 25, 2008

By: Joel Osteen

Success is intentional, not accidental. You may not know what steps to take right now in life to accomplish what God has put in your heart, but God knows the plan, and if you’ll do your part to seek Him and begin to make plans to succeed, God will guide you. It says in the scriptures, “The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” You don’t have to vaguely go through life. God wants to direct your steps. He wants to show you His plan.

Decide today to make plans to succeed. Write down your goals. Make time to evaluate where you are in life. Evaluate your finances, your career, your relationships. Don’t go another week without having a plan for your future. Evaluate how you're spending your time and money. If you’ll go beyond dreaming, and start making plans to succeed, God promises He’s going to direct your steps and He will lead you down the path of His favor.

** The Devil's Beatitudes **

-Author Unknown-

Blessed are those who are too tired, too busy, too distracted to spend an hour once a week with their fellow Christians in Church - they are my best workers.

Blessed are those Christians who wait to be asked and expect to be thanked - I can use them.

Blessed are the touchy, with a bit of luck they may stop going to church - they are my missionaries.

Blessed are those who are very religious but get on everyone's nerves - they are mine forever.

Blessed are the troublemakers - they shall be called my children.

Blessed are those who have no time to pray - they are easy prey for me.

Blessed are the gossipers - for they are my secret agents.

Blessed are those critical of church leadership - for they shall inherit a place with me in my fate.

Blessed are the complainers - I'm all ears for them.

Blessed are you when you read this and think it is about other people and not yourself - I've got you.

God's Grace Is Enough

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

Today's Scripture

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Grace is God’s unmerited favor. It’s kindness from Him that we don’t deserve. Grace empowers us and strengthens us. No matter what has happened in your past, you can receive God’s grace and forgiveness and start fresh today. You can hold your head up high because His grace is enough. You may not be perfect, but you are forgiven.

When you go around holding on to your past mistakes or think you have to try to make things up to God, it’s like saying that His grace isn’t enough. Jesus has already paid for your mistakes. All you have to do is receive His grace today and thank Him for His favor and empowerment in your life. In the same way, extend that grace to others. Don’t try to punish people for their past mistakes; instead, give them favor to start over.

As you allow God’s grace to flow through you, you will be strengthened and empowered. You’ll see yourself rise higher, and you will enjoy God’s blessing in every area of your life.

Give Your Faith a Voice

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

Today's Scripture

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Every believer has been given a measure of faith. In order to see the promises of God come to pass in your life, you have to give your faith a voice. You must declare what God says about you in His Word.

Those seeds of faith inside you are activated when you speak them out into the atmosphere. That’s why the scripture tells us, “Let the weak say I am strong. Let the poor say I am rich.” When you give your faith a voice and send forth the Word of God out of your mouth, the Bible says that He watches over His Word to bring it to pass in your life. Don’t dig up your seed by speaking against His Word. Don’t allow words of defeat or negativity to come out of your mouth. Instead, water your seed by continuing to declare the Word of God.

When you wake up every morning, thank Him that His promises are coming to pass in your life. As you do, you will see those things come to pass, and you will live the life of victory God has prepared for you.

** Do You Have Scars? **

DO YOU HAVE SCARS?

By: Bo Sanchez

Most of you know I’m a recovering porn addict.

I was addicted to it for years—and it almost destroyed me.

Today, God has healed me and continues to heal me.

If you don’t know this part of my life, read my two books, Your Past Does Not Define Your Future, and 7 Secrets To Real Freedom.

More than my writing or preaching, I think one of the greatest things I’ve ever done for others is to share my scars to them. It gives people hope that they too can be healed and change their life.

It’s like the vegetables I eat. (Be patient with my analogy.)

My friend tells me I’m like a goat.

Because everyday, he sees me munching on raw salad.

Specifically, raw green “organic” vegetables.

Here’s something you may not know about organic: They’re physical appearance won’t be perfect. They’ll have pockmarks. Flaws. Blemishes.

Why?

Because they don’t have insecticides to protect them from bugs.

Some people who don’t know this will choose the “perfect” veggies. The ones with no defects. No wounds. No scars.

A pity. Because their perfection is fake. They don’t have scars because they’re covered with a truckload of chemicals. A few of them may even be poisonous. They keep out the enemy, but they also make the veggie very unhealthy.

You know what?

I’ve met people who don’t seem to have any defects.

No scars on the outside.

At least, they make it appear as if they have no scars.

But it’s not true.

Their real scar is their pretending to have no scars.

It makes them inorganic. It makes them plastic.

Dear friend, give hope.

Share your scars to others.

May your dreams come true.

Encourage Yourself

Monday, October 20, 2008

Today's Scripture

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

It’s good to have friends and family around to cheer you up when you’re down, but in order to truly live in victory, that encouragement has to come from the inside. When your mind is telling you it’s not worth it, when your circumstances seem difficult, deep down inside, your spirit has to have the resolve that says, “I refuse to settle where I am.”

That’s what David had to do. He was facing a major setback. His family was killed, his city was destroyed, and his own people were now against him, but he still managed to encourage himself in the Lord. How did he do that? He replayed in his mind the victories from the past. He recounted God’s faithfulness. As he rehearsed over and over the goodness of God, strength began to rise in his heart. There are so many places you can see the hand of God at work. Thank Him for saving you today. Thank Him for the miracle of life. Thank Him for His faithfulness.

Focus on the fact that God didn’t bring you this far to leave you now. Stir up that inner strength and encouragement. As you do, you’ll rise higher and higher and live the life of victory the Lord has prepared for you.

Why Man Always Blame God? Is This You?

-Author Unknown-

It has been six months since I was terminated from my first job. Unlike most college graduates, I was immediately employed by a company in which I started as an On-the-Job trainee. When I graduated, they absorbed me. I was so thankful then, because in spite of the stiff competition, aside from the fact that I am not a degree holder, finding a good job is very difficult.

My family went through a financial crisis and the back-pay I received from my company is finished. I was the eldest son so I really felt the weight of hardship. But I held on to my faith that God will give me a job. But I can’t help feeling scared, discouraged and dismayed. I grew up in a Christian family and in my knowledge, it is a sin to get angry with God.

My mother and I used to dispute over finances. One day we had a row because she told me I am not exerting enough effort to look for a job. She said I am only sitting all day surfing the internet and spending a lot. When I explained to her that I am looking for a job through the internet, she didn’t believe me. I did not argue anymore because there were no Jobstreet and JobsDB in her time. I was so down then and she will nag at me about my being jobless and useless. I was never disrespectful to my mother even if I am hurt by her words.

And at times I feel so weak and I need a mother to comfort me, it was the opposite. I am looking for a job, I am exerting much effort, but why does it seem something is deterring? All the companies I applied to were not calling me. And if somebody calls, I fail the exams. I felt like my chest is exploding and I ran upstairs. I banged the door and cried my heart out in my bed. I was blaming God. I knew it is wrong to get angry with God but I can’t help it.

Tears flowed on my pillow and I poured all my emotions against God. I don’t care anymore if He gets angry with me.

“I’m so disappointed with You, Lord! Why are You doing this to me? I cannot pretend anymore with You, it’s the same thing. You see what’s really inside my heart.”

I continued to pour my anger towards Him as if it is a friend who hurt me I am talking to. I admitted my fears, doubts, weakness, and even my secret dismay and anger towards Him.

“I held on to my faith but why were You not answering me?”

After some time, I felt eased. The rage I felt changed to resentment only. Then I saw myself talking, like sharing my hurt to a friend, a friend who truly understands my reactions because of my bitterness against him. A few minutes later, hope came back and my faith to His promise that He will not forsake me. And for the first time after I became a Christian, I prayed wholeheartedly and earnestly…
“Lord, I am hurting. You know how much I suffered when I lost my job. I want to be honest with You, since You know what’s inside my heart. I am scared about my future, that I may not be able to work again. It’s so hard to find a job, most of the company take university graduates and degree holders. I am only a technician. If it is possible, remove me from this situation. I can’t take it anymore. But I still put my trust in You. I want to believe, help me with my unbelief.”

I cried again. “If my will is to be done, I want to put an end to this. But if I really have to go through this my Lord, if going through this pain would make me a better person, then I surrender to Your will…even if You see me hurting, even if You see me crying, if this would bring glory to Your Name…don’t stop Lord…DON’T STOP UNTIL YOU ARE FINISHED!!’

After saying this, I felt cool air surround my whole body. It felt like hugging me. I felt a little strange, but I felt more strange when I heard a still small voice, talking to my heart.

“Finally, My child, you have learned your lesson.”

In one snap, my mind was enlightened and I understood that God wanted me to go through all of these so I can know His power. For seven months, He stopped the rain of blessings so I can be honest with him, even to unpleasant emotions that I feel. I realized that God wanted us to be honest and authentic with Him rather than praising Him outside our heart. In those seven months, He taught me how to be like King David, being openly honest to Him. Before, I used to know about Him…but now I know Him…deeply, personally.

Then the Voice continued, “Now, tell Me what kind of job you want.”

Because I learned to be honest, I became specific.

“Lord, I want a job with above minimum salary. I want a workplace near my home. I want to develop more my skills in IT or computer, a company where I can study in the evenings so I will learn the latest on IT. If it is possible, I want Christian officemates. And Lord, is it okay to make a request?...can I have a job where I can wear long-sleeved shirt and a necktie?”

I don’t know but maybe He smiled at what I said.

Tok, tok…I was surprised when somebody knocked at the faculty room. I was awakened from my flashback. “Sir RJ, your students for the Programming class have arrived. Room 3.”
I replied that I’ll follow. Our morning devotion, which is part of the daily routine in Informatics, Ortigas Branch has just finished. My workplace is only two rides away from home. I’ve been here for a year now. I don’t study in the evenings anymore because our company provides training on latest IT courses for IT instructors like me, so we can teach the students. After some time, I heard the song Through It All playing on the background from the manager’s office. It is boss’ favorite. I fixed the fold of my sleeves and tightened my necktie before I left the faculty room...

Answered Prayer!

Sunday, October 19, 2008

By: Dr. Harold Sala

“Did you say your prayers last night?” a father asked his little girl at breakfast. Candidly she replied, “No, daddy. I didn’t want anything last night.” Well, there is one thing for sure: When your back is to the wall, when trouble is knocking at your door, or a tropical storm is threatening to wipe out your home, you pray. You really pray. None of this business of rubbing your eye brows and mumbling a few words.

But are times of desperation the only times we need to pray?

I often think of asking an airline pilot friend of mine what he thought about when he lost an engine on an Airbus A320. His response was that he didn’t have time to think. He was so engrossed in stabilizing the plane and getting the passengers safely to an airport that he himself went on "automatic pilot." But what stuck in my mind so forcibly was his comment which followed as he said, “That’s why you had better be ready to meet the Lord any time because sometimes you don’t have time to pray.”

“Prayer,” said John R. Rice, “is asking and receiving.” And that is true, but it is much more than this. Question: Why should God answer my prayer, or any one else’s prayer for that matter? In Paul’s letters he tells us that prayer is based upon a relationship, and he uses the analogy of the relationship of a father and a child who has been adopted. As the adopted son, the youngster has a new relationship with his father. He belongs to him, and because of this, the little child asks freely of his father, who delights in bringing happiness to the little boy. You find this truth in Galatians 4 and Romans 8 in the New Testament.

Frankly, I am often reproved by the simple faith of brothers and sisters—often in faraway lands—who ask God quietly to do something, and God honors that request. In our sophistication, we rely upon miracle drugs and medicines, upon MRIs and CAT scans, upon medical technology, not bothering to bring our needs to God’s throne in prayer.

Instead of walking up a dirt trail or road to a prayer mountain where a thatched roof offers some shade as believers pray, we beat a well-worn path to a doctor’s office where we trust medical science. Now, lest I be misunderstood, I’m not opposed to the remarkable help which the medical profession and science and technology have brought to us. But I’m wondering if with our sophistication and progress, we have forgotten the simple truth that God still hears and answers prayer.

On the wall of my godly grandmother’s home was a little plaque which read, “Prayer changes things!” Yes, I know what it meant. But I’ve come to learn that prayer changes people and people change things. Most of our problems are not typhoons or tornadoes or even bacteria or blight, but people problems—the kind medical science cannot change.

I think James was right when he said that we have not because we ask not. Never forget the encouragement which Jesus gave to His disciples as He said, “Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:24, NKJV). Yes, why not ask even now?

Nothing Can Separate Us

Saturday, October 18, 2008

Today's Scripture

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

God’s love goes way beyond any human love you have ever experienced! People may come and go from your life, but God is always with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Human love may be conditional, but God’s love is supernatural; it’s unconditional, and it knows no limits.

There’s nothing you can do to earn His love and nothing you can do to stop His love. The scripture tells us that His love is patient and kind, His love believes the best in you. His love redeems and restores you. No matter what you’ve been told or what you may think about yourself today, you are His most prized possession.

There’s nothing that can separate you from His love! Remember, faith is activated by love. As you allow Him to flood you with His love, your faith will be ignited, and you’ll be empowered to live the abundant life He has for you!

In God's Presence is Fullness

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Today's Scripture

“You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy…” (Psalm 16:11).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Do you need something from the Lord today? The scripture tells us that Jesus came so that you could have life, and have it abundantly, or to the full. Everything you need, spiritually, physically, and emotionally is found in the presence of Almighty God. He wants to show you the path of life and pour out His abundance and favor on you.

The scripture tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people. One translation says, “He is enthroned on the praises of His people.” In other words, when you give God the praise, you invite Him to be Lord over every area of your life. You open the door for Him to exercise the fullness of His authority. You are opening the door to His fullness of peace, joy, love, and everything He has for you!

You can praise God at anytime, anywhere. Just simply open your heart and begin to declare how wonderful and awesome He is! As your praise goes up, His blessing comes down. Remember, praise precedes the victory. As you worship, you’ll experience His fullness and live as an overcomer all the days of your life!

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, I come before You giving You all that I am. I bless and praise You for Your faithfulness. Thank You for filling me with Your peace, joy, and victory as I worship You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Peace, Be Still

Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Today's Scripture

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

What do you do when the storms of life seem to be raging against you? One time Jesus was with His disciples in a boat out on the water when they encountered a great storm. The disciples were very afraid, but Jesus on the other hand, was fast asleep. When the disciples woke Him up to see if He could help them, Jesus got up and simply spoke to the storm, “Peace! Be still.” And the seas were calm again.

When difficult times come, you don’t have to be overwhelmed by the waves of worry or fear. Just as Jesus stood up and spoke to the storm, you have power in your words, too. As a believer, the Bible tells us that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you. That means God’s miracle-working power is on the inside of you. He’s given you His authority to declare peace over your home, over your mind, and over your family.

Remember, no matter what storms may come against you, the Greater One lives on the inside of you, and He’ll empower you to live in victory in every area of your life!

The Girls Were Buried Alive - Believe It or Not?

Recent miracle in Egypt! As broadcasted in CBS...

A Muslim man in Egypt killed his wife because she was reading the Bible and then buried her with their infant baby and an 8-year old daughter.

The girls were buried alive! He then reported to the police that an uncle killed the kids. 15 days later, another family member died. When they went to bury him, they found the 2 little girls under the sand - ALIVE!

The country is outraged over the incident, and the man will be executed at the end of July.

The older girl was asked how she had survived and she says: - 'A man wearing shiny white clothes, with bleeding wounds in his hands, came every day to feed us. He woke up my mom so she could nurse my sister,' she said. She was interviewed on Egyptian national TV by a veiled Muslim woman news anchor. She said on public TV, 'This was none other than Jesus, because nobody else does things like this!'

Muslims believe Isa (Jesus) would do this, but the wounds mean He really was crucified, and it's clear also that He is alive! But, it's also clear that the child could not make up a story like this, and there is no way these children could have survived without a true miracle.

Muslim leaders are going to have a hard time to figure out what to do with this, and the popularity of the Passion movie doesn't help! With Egypt at the centre of the media and education in the Middle East, you can be sure this story will spread. Christ is still controlling and turning the world. Please let this story be shared.

The Lord says, 'I will bless the person who puts his trust in Me." -Jeremiah 17

Peace That Passes Understanding

Monday, October 13, 2008

Today's Scripture

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Many people carry anxiety and worry about life—their jobs, money, homes, and relationships. They allow these cares and concerns to overwhelm their thoughts and affect every area of their lives. They don’t sleep well and become touchy and edgy with people throughout the day. If that’s you, recognize that God has a plan for you to live in peace—peace that passes understanding. What does that mean?

It means that you can have peace in your heart when it doesn’t make sense to have peace—when the world around you is anxious and upset; when circumstances are beyond your control; when things aren’t going the way you thought they would. You serve a good God, and no matter what things look like today, He is working behind the scenes on your behalf.

One definition of “peace” means, “to set at one again.” When you are at one and in unity with the Father through Christ Jesus, His supernatural peace will automatically begin to fill your heart. All of that anxiety and uneasiness will disappear as His supernatural peace guards your heart and directs your steps into the abundant life He has for you.

Please the Lord

Sunday, October 12, 2008

Today's Scripture

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

What does it mean to please the Lord? In the book of Hebrews, it says that faith pleases God. Faith is simply believing that God is who He says He is, and that He rewards those who seek after Him. The Bible also tells us that faith without works is dead.

In other words, we know that we have faith in our hearts because it impacts our actions. For example, when you go to sit down in your favorite chair, you probably don’t stop and study it or wonder if it’s going to hold you up. No, you have faith in that chair because you’ve probably sat in it hundreds of times.

If you didn’t have faith that the chair would hold you, you wouldn’t sit down. Your actions are affected by your faith. In the same way, when we have faith in God, we follow His commands knowing He will fulfill His promises. Every believer has been given a measure of faith. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. The more we act on that faith, the more we will see His faithfulness and the more confidence we will have in Him!

Seek To Do Good

Wednesday, October 8, 2008

Today's Scripture

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

In Galatians chapter five, the Bible talks about nine specific fruits of the Spirit. These are spiritual qualities that manifest in our lives when we allow Him to work in us. The more we invite God to move in our hearts and follow His Word, the more those attributes will be displayed through us. Kindness and goodness are two of those qualities. The Bible tells us that His kindness leads people to repentance. Kindness advances the kingdom of God. The more kindness and goodness we show other people, the more we are acting like God.

The Bible tells us that what we sow, we shall reap. When we seek to do good for others, we will reap goodness in our own lives in return. I encourage you today to look for ways to show kindness and goodness to the people around you even when they aren’t kind to you. Don’t repay evil for evil. Take the high road. Bless those who wrongfully use you. Seek to do good, show kindness, and you will see it come back as blessings in your own life in return!

Today's Scripture

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Everyone has been hurt, offended, betrayed, and mistreated at some point. Sometimes those wounds are small and easy to move past, but other times they are deep and take time to heal. The important thing is that we choose to forgive so that we can open the door to God’s forgiveness in our own lives.

Forgiveness is such a powerful tool. Forgiveness sets you free and draws you closer to your Heavenly Father. One of the first things my mother did when she found out she had stage four cancer of the liver was to ask the Lord to search her heart for any unforgiveness. She didn’t want anything to block her prayers for God’s healing. And now more than twenty years later, she still has a perfectly clean bill of health!

Whenever you pray, invite the Lord to search your heart. Choose to forgive anyone that has hurt you. As you walk in forgiveness, you’ll experience His hand of blessing in ways you never thought possible, and you will move forward in the abundant life He has in store for you.

The Christian Girl Was Murdered by her Brother

Monday, October 6, 2008

A friend of mine sent me this powerful testimony of a Muslim girl who had a great faith in Christ Jesus.

***

A Saudi girl, Fatima Al-Mutairi, was just martyred by her brother because of her faith in Jesus Christ. Please pray for her family, her tribe, and her country. Below is the poem she wrote.

The life and testimony of Fatima bint Mohamed bin Uthman Al-Mutairi, a Saudi woman who was killed by her own brother in August 2008 because she followed Jesus Christ.

Fatima loved her Savior enough to die for His name. She loved her family enough to proclaim the truth to them, despite the terror and danger. She loved her people, the Saudi people, and was exceedingly proud to be Saudi. She loved Saudi Arabia with all of her heart, as her poem clearly portrays. She is blessed, for Christ said, "Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Indeed, she beholds the kingdom of heaven even now.

Fatima was burned alive after having her tongue cut by her brother. But her words are not cut from our memories. Her words will stand, and they speak of Christ who loves her people... Christ who died for their sins.

In her last letter before her death, after being locked in her room for 4 hours, she cited David's Psalm "The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear?" Truly, truly, the Spirit of the Lord was with her when she died for his namesake.

~A poem by Fatima Al-Mutairi before martyrdom~

May the Lord Jesus guide you, Oh Muslims
رب يسوع يهديكم يا مسلمين
And enlighten your hearts that you might love others
و ينور قلوبكم و تحبّون الاخـريـن
The forum does not revile the Master of the prophets
الملتقى ما يشتم بسيد المرسلين
It is for the display of truth, and for you it was revealed
هو لإضهار الحقيقة و عشانكم تبين
This is the truth which you do not know
هذى الحقيقة اللي أنتم عنها غايبين
What we profess are the words of the Master of the prophets
و ما نقوله هو من كلام سيد المرسلين
We do not worship the cross, and we are not possessed
و احنا ما نعبد الصـليب و لانا ابمجانين
We worship the Lord Jesus, the Light of the worlds
احنا نعبد الرب يسوع نور العالمين
We left Mohammed, and we do not follow in his path
محمد تركناه و بدربه محنا سالكين
We followed Jesus Christ, the Clear Truth
و اتبعنا يسوع المسيح الحق المبين
Truly, we love our homeland, and we are not traitors
و بصـراحه حنا نحب ديرتنا و محنا خاينين
We take pride that we are Saudi citizens
و نفتخر انّّّّ حنا مواطنين سعوديين
How could we betray our homeland, our dear people?
كيف نخون وطنّا و أهلنا الغالين؟؟
How could we, when for death---for Saudi Arabia--- we stand ready?
كيف و احنا للموت للسعودية مستعدين؟؟
The homeland of my grandfathers, their glories, and odes---for it I am writing
ديرة أجدادي و أمجادي و للقصيد لها كاتبين
And we say, “We are proud, proud, proud to be Saudis”
و نقول فخر فخر فخر احنا سعوديين
We chose our way, the way of the rightly guided
احنا اخترنا طريقنا طريق المهتدين
And every man is free to choose any religion
و كل إنسان حر لإختار أي دين
Be content to leave us to ourselves to be believers in Jesus
تكفون اتركونا بحالنا و بيسوع مؤمنين
Let us live in grace before our time comes
خلونا نتهنى في حياتنا قبل ساعتنا تحين
There are tears on my cheek, and Oh! the heart is sad
دمعتي فوق خدي اااه و القلب حزين
To those who become Christians, how you are so cruel!
على حال المتنصـرين يا كيف أنتم قاسين
And the Messiah says, “Blessed are the Persecuted”
و المسيح يقول طوبى لكم المضطهدين
And we for the sake of Christ all things bear
و حنا عشان المسيح لكل شي متحملين
What is it to you that we are infidels?
وش لك وش عليكم إحنا كافرين
You do not enter our graves, as if with us buried
منتم ابداخلين قبورنا و معنا مدفونين
Enough---your swords do not concern me, not evil nor disgrace
خلاص ما تهمني سيوفكم و لا شين
Your threats do not trouble me, and we are not afraid
و لا يهمني تهديدكم و ما حنا خايفين
And by God, I am unto death a Christian---Verily
والله انا للموت مسيحية و يا عين
I cry for what passed by, of a sad life
أبكي على ما فات من عمر حزين
I was far from the Lord Jesus for many years
كنت بعيده عن الرب يسوع عدة سنين
Oh History record! and bear witness, Oh Witnesses!
و سجل يا تأريخ و اشهدوا يا شاهدين
We are Christians--- in the path of Christ we tread
احنا مسيحيين بدرب المسيح ماشين
Take from me this word, and note it well
و خذها مني معلومه و احفظها زين
You see, Jesus is my Lord, and He is the Best of protectors
ترى يسوع ربي هو احفظ الحافظين
I advise you to pity yourself, to clap your hands in mourning
أنصحك ترثي حالك و تصفق بكفين

See your look of ugly hatred
و تشوف شكلك من الحقد كيف هو يشين
Man is brother to man, Oh learned ones
الإنسان أخو إنسان يا متعلمين!!!
Where is the humanity, the love, and where are you?
وين الإنسانيه و المحبه و أنتم وين
As to my last words, I pray to the Lord of the worlds
و اخر كلامي أصلي لرب العالمين
Jesus the Messiah, the Light of Clear Guidance
يسوع المسيح نور الهدايه المبين
That He change notions, and set the scales of justice aright
يغير المفاهيم و يعدل الموازين
And that He spread Love among you, Oh Muslims
و ينــــشرالمحبه بينكم يا مسلميــــــــــــــــــــــــن

Your Place in God's Band

Sunday, October 5, 2008

by Max Lucado

Two of my teenage years were spent carrying a tuba in my high school marching band. My mom wanted me to learn to read music, and the choir was full while the band was a tuba-tooter short, so I signed up. Not necessarily what you would describe as a call from God, but it wasn’t a wasted experience either.

I had a date with a twirler.

I learned to paint white shoe polish on school buses.

And I learned some facts about harmony that I’ll pass on to you.

I marched next to the bass-drum player. What a great sound. Boom. Boom. Boom. Deep, cavernous, thundering.

And at the end of my flank marched the flute section. Oh, how their music soared. Whispering, lifting, rising into the clouds.

Ahead of me, at the front of my line, was our first-chair trumpet. He could raise the spirit. He could raise the flag. He could have raised the roof on the stadium if we’d had one.

The soft flute needs the brash trumpet needs the steady drum needs the soft flute needs the brash trumpet.

Get the idea? The operative word is need. They need each other.

By themselves they make music. But together, they make magic.

Now, what I saw two decades ago in the band, I see today in the church. We need each other. Not all of us play the same instrument. Some believers are lofty, and others are solid. Some keep the pace while others lead the band. Not all of us make the same sound. Some are soft, and others are loud. And not all of us have the same ability. But each of us has a place.

Some play the drums (like Martha).

Some play the flute (like Mary).

And others sound the trumpet (like Lazarus).

Mary, Martha, and Lazarus were like family to Jesus. After the Lord raised Lazarus from the dead, they decided to give a dinner for Jesus. They decided to honor him by having a party on his behalf (see John 12:2).

They didn’t argue over the best seat. They didn’t resent each other’s abilities. They didn’t try to outdo each other. All three worked together with one purpose. But each one fulfilled that purpose in his or her unique manner. Martha served; she always kept everyone in step. Mary worshiped; she anointed her Lord with an extravagant gift, and its aroma filled the air. Lazarus had a story to tell, and he was ready to tell it.

Three people, each one with a different skill, a different ability. But each one of equal value.

Why is Relationship Important?

Saturday, October 4, 2008

Today's Scripture

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” (James 5:16).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Relationships are so important in the eyes of God. As His children, He desires that we live in unity and stay connected with one another. When we are transparent and pray for each other, something supernatural takes place. We open the door for God to pour out His abundant blessing and healing in our lives. When we walk in love and unity, our prayers become more effective and His power is released through us.

Living in peace and unity doesn’t mean you have to agree with everyone around you all the time. It means you look for common ground. It means you reach out to others; you pray for them and help meet their needs. When we put the needs of others first, God will make sure our own needs are abundantly supplied. When we live with a servant’s heart towards others, it opens the door for God’s complete healing, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.

A Prayer for Today

Father in Heaven, thank You for revealing Your truth to my heart. I choose Your ways above my own and ask that you open opportunities for me to pray for others and open the door for your healing power. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
