The Greatness Within You

Thursday, February 12, 2009

Today's Scripture

"However, we possess this precious treasure [the divine Light of the Gospel] in [frail, human] vessels of earth, that the grandeur and exceeding greatness of the power may be shown to be from God and not from ourselves" (II Corinthians 4:7, AMP).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Did you know that you have greatness inside of you? As a believer, the Holy Spirit actually dwells within you. You have all the power and authority in heaven and earth living on the inside of you!

All throughout life, God gives us opportunities to discover that greatness on the inside of us. When we overcome obstacles, we are tapping into that strength and greatness within. One thing I've learned is that God doesn't allow big challenges to face small people.

You may be facing something big today. It may seem like it's over your head, but that is a sure sign you’re a big person with a big destiny. You may feel small, you may not see how it's going to work out, but you've got to remember who you are; a child of The Most High God. You have been created in His image. You're wearing your crown of favor, and you are carrying His greatness on the inside of you.

Have the attitude that says, "This may be extraordinary, but I know I'm an extraordinary person serving an extraordinary God." Stand in faith knowing that you have the victory because you have His greatness living on the inside of you!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your greatness on the inside of me. I choose to stand in faith today knowing that with You, I will overcome every challenge and every obstacle. I bless Your holy Name. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Say So!

Today's Scripture

"Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has delivered from the hand of the adversary" (Psalm 107:2, AMP).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Notice this verse doesn't say "Let the redeemed of the Lord think so. Let the redeemed believe so." Of course it's important to think right, and it's important to believe right, but something supernatural happens when we declare something out loud.

And, you don't even have to say it to anyone else, you can just say it to yourself–driving to work or in the shower, you can say, "The economy may be low, but I am blessed. I am prosperous. I will lend and not borrow." "I may have had some setbacks, but I know those setbacks are a setup for a comeback! This is still going to be my best year so far. The favor of God is turning things around."You are prophesying your future.

When you say what the Lord has done for you, when you declare that you are redeemed, you are opening the door for God to move on your behalf. The Scripture tells us that He watches over His Word to perform it.

When you declare His Word, when you speak His promises, He is faithful to fulfill them and lead you into victory all the days of your life!

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, thank You for delivering me and setting me free. I will declare Your goodness. I will declare Your promises. I will declare Your favor so that I can live the good life You have prepared for me. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Are You Born Again?

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

by Dr. Harold Sala

Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.” John 3:3

Why do so many people pray to a living God and believe in Jesus Christ, but down deep in their heart, they just don't feel much of anything? Ever wonder? Perhaps you are there right now.

The Bible says that God has given us the promise of Scripture in the Bible so that you may know that you are saved. Pretty strong words. But you are thinking, "Just doesn't seem to work for me...."

The next three minutes may be the most important of your day. A little boy was staying with his aged aunt, whose weathered face resembled a dried prune, and candidly asked, "When are you going to turn into a frog?" Somewhat taken aback she replied, "Well, I hadn't planned on it... Why?" "Well," continued the little boy, "Daddy said that we would get a lot of money when you croaked."

OK, suppose you had a rich aunt somewhere, anywhere, and you didn't know she even existed, but she knew you existed and she left you a lot of money in her will. The minute she died, you became very, very rich. You like the idea, right? But the attorney who executed the will didn't know your name and address, and so the great search began. It took him a long time to run you down, and by then the money you inherited was worth even a lot more because of the interest.

One day there is a knock on your door. The attorney who represented your rich aunt introduced himself and said, "I have very good news for you. May I come in?" He begins. "Your father is so and so, right?" You nod your head. "Well, he had a spinster sister, and she died naming you as the lucky person who will inherit all her money."

How does that make you feel? Chances are you would be skeptical. I know I would. I'd probably say, "Just a minute, who did you say you are?" But he says, "Call your bank and ask if the money has not been deposited to your account." How long would it take you to get excited? Here's my point. The moment she died and left you the money you became a millionaire, but you didn't get excited until the knowledge really sank in.

The knowledge of your salvation rests upon three facts that are not subject to feelings.

Fact #1: Jesus Christ lived, died, and rose again.

The Bible puts it so simply, stating, "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; He was buried, and He rose again the third day, according to the Scripture" (I Corinthians 15:3,4, KJV). How you feel about this has nothing to do with the truth of the statement.

Fact #2: The Bible promises eternal life to all who will come to Him and receive Him as Lord and Savior.

It says, "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12).

Fact #3: is that you prayed, you really prayed, to receive this gift of life, right?

If you answer, "Yes!" then I have to say, on the authority of God's Word, you have this great gift of life right now.

Perhaps you have been confusing three words: faith, feeling, and fact. We often put feelings first. We trust our emotions as though they were the voice of God within. Put fact first. What God has said. Then put faith next. Respond to what He has written in His Word and believe it.

Finally, put emotions behind faith. The facts you take by faith will result in positive emotions. You can know that you have eternal life and you can know that right now.

Jesus said, "Truly, truly I say to you, he who hears My word and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death unto life" (John 5:24).

That promise has your name on it.

Choose the Voice of Faith

Saturday, February 7, 2009

Today's Scripture

"If only you carefully listen to the voice of the Lord your God…" (Deuteronomy 15:5, AMP).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

All through the day there are two voices that compete for our attention–the voice of faith and the voice of defeat. You'll hear a voice saying, "You'll never rise any higher. You don't have what it takes. You've reached your limit."

But if you listen carefully, you'll hear another voice saying, "You are well able. You can do all things through Christ. Your best days are still up ahead." You are the one who gets to choose which voice comes to life by speaking it out of your own mouth. The moment you verbalize that thought, you give it the right to come to pass. When you speak faith, you're in agreement with God. When you speak defeat, you're in agreement with the enemy. God–talk brings God on the scene. Enemy–talk brings the enemy on the scene.

Why don't you get in agreement with God today? That negative voice may be louder, but you can override it. You can take away all of its power by simply choosing the voice of faith. Choose to declare favor, blessing, and increase over your life so that you can walk in the victory the Lord has in store for you.

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, today and everyday, I choose the voice of faith and victory. I declare that today I am rising up higher in You, that I can do all things because You give me strength. I bless and honor You in everything I do. In Jesus' Name. Amen

Speak To Your Mountains

Today's Scripture

"And Jesus answered them, Truly I say to you, if you have faith (a firm relying trust) and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, Be taken up and cast into the sea, it will be done" (Matthew 21:21, AMP).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

We've all had seasons when the challenges of life feel overwhelming. During those times, it's easy to be tempted to talk about how bad things are. Maybe you received a bad medical report, or maybe you're facing a financial obstacle. But the more you talk about something, the bigger it becomes in your mind.

Instead, you've got to dig your heels in and say, "No, I am not going to give life to that defeat. I am not going to speak sickness over myself. I'm not going to speak lack. I'm not going to speak fear. I'm choosing a different report. I believe the report of the Lord which says I am blessed. I am favored. I am prosperous. I am healthy. I am whole. I'm a victor, not a victim."

Remember, even if you don't see how things could ever work out, God does. You've got to speak to those mountains in your life and declare favor over those situations. Instead of talking to God about how big your problems are, talk to your problems about how big your God is! As you speak to your mountains, they will be moved, and you will move forward into the victory God has prepared for you!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word which is life to my spirit. I receive Your strength today and choose to speak to the mountains, so I can move forward in the victory You have in store for me. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Why People Needs To Be Born Again?

Friday, February 6, 2009

by Dr. Harol Sala

"He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." -1 John 5:12

A stockbroker who writes a large check to his favorite charity, a Buddhist priest who with shaven head goes on a long journey, and a young woman who takes a vow of chastity and goes into a convent don't have much in common.

But there is one thing which they do share: each in his own way is seeking some assurance that if he or she died God would not forget what they had done. "All roads lead to Rome!" Right? Do the best you can and surely at the end of the trip, God will take notice, and if you've done more good things than bad things, then surely He will let you in! Agree or disagree? The issue boils down to something very fundamental. Who decides? By what rules do we play the game? Who referees the final play and decides who passes the Final Exam in life?

How can you really be sure? Ever wonder? It's a valid issue, friend, and if you've never thought about it, you better write it down in your little black book: death is as certain as birth and taxes, so you had better give some thought to what happens when you face an eternal tomorrow. It's positive, friend, you will eventually face the issue.

A minister was acquainted with a woman who occasionally attended his services, who believed that nobody could really be sure about life after death.

One day the pastor asked her rather bluntly, "Do you have the assurance that if you died today, you would go to heaven?"

Somewhat taken aback, she replied, "I hope so..." and then quickly added, "I do not believe that it is possible for anyone to know that in this life." "Oh," said the minister, "then you do not believe the Word of God?" "Most certainly I do," she snapped back, "...every word of it."

"May I show you just one verse in the Bible?" he asked. "There is nothing you can show me that I don't already know," she said, trying to end the conversation. "Just one little verse," he persisted.

Taking her Bible he turned to I John 5:13 and read to her slowly; "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." "Do you believe that?" he asked. "Certainly," she replied. "Do you believe in the name of the Son of God?" "Yes." "Do you trust in Him, alone, as your Savior?" he asked. "Yes, I do," she again answered. The pastor then said, "Well, then you are saved. You have been born again!" She thought for a minute and said, "Well, I hope so..."

"I know your problem," said the pastor. "When you went to school, they used to spell differently!" "What do you mean?" she said. "When you went to school," he continued, "they spelled know, H O P E."

He turned to I John 5:13 again and read the verse, and the light finally dawned. The Bible says very plainly that all spiritual pilgrimages do not lead to heaven’s gate. It says, "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12). Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).

The Good News is that you can know that you have eternal life right now. You don't have to wait until you are staring death in the face. And this life is a gift. You don't earn it. You can't buy it. You can only receive it.

When Jesus Christ was crucified, God accepted His death in your place. And in so doing, God made it possible for you to be adopted into the family of God.

John says, "He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life" (I John 5:12). It’s just that simple.

Why People Ask For Rain

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

Today's Scripture

"Ask the LORD for rain in the time of the latter rain" (Zechariah 10:1, NKJ).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

In the Scripture, rain represents God's favor. This verse is telling us to "ask for rain even though it's raining." What does that mean? You might think, "If it's raining, it doesn't seem like you'd need to ask for it." But God is saying, "My favor is available to you, but you're not going to receive it unless you ask."

Right now, God is showering down blessings, healing, promotion, and good ideas. It's raining favor. But we have to do our part to get our words in line with what God wants to do. We have to ask for that favor. We have to call it in if we are going to experience it. We have to release our faith with our words.

This is a great day to be alive! God is pouring out his favor like no other time in history. Right now, it is raining increase. It's raining new ideas. It’s raining promotion. Don't let it pass you by. Start declaring it for yourself, "I am blessed. I am prosperous. I am favored. I am healthy. I am free." Ask for rain in this time of rain, and you’ll see His blessing and provision in every area of your life!

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, thank You for Your grace, mercy, and favor. I ask for rain in the time of rain, I ask for increase in Your favor and blessing so I can be a blessing to those around me today and always. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Be a Bounce-Back Person

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Today's Scripture

"So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold…" (I Peter 1:6-7, NLT).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

We all face disappointments and setbacks. Life is full of things that try to push us down. Maybe you got bad news concerning your health. A relationship didn't work out. Maybe you lost your job. It was a setback. When we face setbacks, it's easy to get discouraged or lose our enthusiasm.

Too often we are tempted to just settle where we are. But if we're going to see God's best, we have to have a bounce-back mentality. That means when you get knocked down, you don't stay down. You get back up again. It means when disappointments come, you shake them off knowing that what the enemy meant for your harm God is going to turn around and use for your good.

When you're a bounce-back person, you know that adversity is not permanent. Weeping may endure for a night, but you know joy is coming in the morning. There is wonderful joy ahead on the other side of this trial.

Keep standing, keep believing, and choose to be a bounce-back person because you are coming out better off than you were before! You are rising higher, and you will fulfill the destiny God has in store for you!

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, I choose to set my focus on You. I know that You are turning things around in my favor. I choose to stand and believe Your promises. Thank You for Your faithfulness in my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

Stir Up Your Dreams

Monday, February 2, 2009

Today's Scripture

"Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you…" (2 Timothy 1:6, NKJ).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

Do you need some freshness in your life today? It’s probably time to stir up what God has placed on the inside of you. It’s time to stir up those gifts, stir up those dreams, stir up those talents inside.

Start stretching yourself. You are meant to dream and to pursue the desires God has placed in your heart. The Scripture tells us that without vision, people perish. If you don’t have a dream, you’re not really living the way God intends. You’re merely existing. Maybe at one time you had a dream, but you went through some disappointments or setbacks. Things didn’t turn out the way you planned.

But here’s a key: when one dream dies, dream another dream. Just because it didn’t work out the way you had it planned doesn’t mean that God doesn’t have another plan. You cannot allow one disappointment or even a series of disappointments to convince you that your dream is over. It’s time to dig your heals in and hold on to the promises in your heart.

As you stir up those God-given dreams and desires, He’ll pour out His favor and blessings and fulfill every desire in your heart!

A Prayer for Today

Father in heaven, I come humbly to You. I give You my past, my disappointments, my brokenness. Fill me with Your hope and expectation and give me the dreams and desires that You have in store for my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

This Thing Tickles Your Mind

by George Carlin

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints.

We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less..

We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time.

We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.

We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life.

We've added years to life not life to years.

We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor..

We've conquered outer space but not inner space.

We've done larger things, but not better things..

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.

We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice..

We write more, but learn less.

We plan more, but accomplish less.

We've learned to rush, but not to wait.

We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.

These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes.

These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throw-away morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom.

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Stay Open for a New Thing

Sunday, February 1, 2009

Today's Scripture

"Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert" (Isaiah 43:19, AMP).

Today's Word from Joel and Victoria

If we are going to be all that God created us to be, we have to be open to change. Just because something worked five years ago doesn´t mean it´s still going to work today. We can´t get so set in our ways that we won´t try anything new.

Many people today have lost their enthusiasm, or there´s no freshness in their life because every time an opportunity comes for change, for promotion, for increase, they shrink back because they´re not used to it. They don´t realize that´s what´s keeping them from going to the next level.

One thing I´ve noticed about successful people is that they know how to change with the times. They don´t get stuck in a rut doing the same thing, the same way, year after year. They´re constantly evaluating where they are and what they´re doing. They make adjustments so they can improve.

Decide today to stay open for the new thing God wants to do in your life. Remember, He´s promised to make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Look for the new thing so that you can fulfill the destiny He has prepared for you!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, search my heart today. Remove any attitudes or thought patterns that would keep me from Your best. I will stay open to the new things You have in store for me. In Jesus´ Name. Amen.
