Why People Need Faith and Patience?

Sunday, May 31, 2009

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"...imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises"(Hebrews 6:12, NKJ).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Did you know that in the Bible, David was 17 years old when he was anointed to be king, but yet he did not take the throne until he was 30? I’m sure during those 13 years there were plenty of times that David was tempted to think it wasn’t going to happen.

I’m sure he was tempted to get frustrated or even feel like a failure, thinking “God, did I hear You? I thought You said You were going to do something great with my life, but nothing is going my way.” Here he was being faithful, but all those years he saw no sign of the promise coming to pass.

I’m sure David had to fight the same negative thoughts that we do; thoughts that were telling him “It’s not going to happen. David, you didn’t hear from God. Just accept it.” The battle was taking place in his mind just like our battles take place in our minds.

During those times when it seems like you aren’t getting any closer to seeing your dream come to pass, remember, the scripture tells us that through faith and patience we inherit the promises of God.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father God, I humbly come to You, believing that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf. I trust that Your Word is true and believe that through faith and patience, I will see Your promises come to pass in my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

God Fulfills His Promises

Saturday, May 30, 2009

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory"(II Corinthians 1:20, NLT).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

What is it in your life that you used to be excited about? Are there dreams that you’ve pushed down, goals that you’ve let go of?

Too often, because those dreams seem to be taking a long time, or because we’ve been through some disappointments, we become complacent. It’s easy to just accept the fact that “it’s probably not going to happen for me.”

But just because you gave up doesn’t mean God gave up. God never aborts a dream. He always fulfills His promises! That dream He placed in your heart may be pushed down by disappointments, setbacks, failures, or rejection. But know this; the seed is still alive.

The promise is still in you. You just need to get your fire back! That dream may look like it’s dead in the ground, but really, it’s just been planted. That means it’s coming back. It’s going to flourish!

Our attitude should be “This may be taking a long time, and maybe I don’t see how it could happen, but I know God already has the completion date. I’m not going to give up on my dreams. I’m not going to go through life without goals, passion, or enthusiasm. No, I’m getting my vision back because I know God fulfills His promises!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness to me! I ask that You breathe life into every dream and desire in my heart. I trust You with the unknowns and believe that You are working all things out for my good. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

JESUS is the Author and Finisher

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…"(Hebrews 12:1-2a, NKJ).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Do you ever feel like there are major obstacles in your path to fulfilling your destiny? Maybe you don’t see how you could ever accomplish your dreams, or how you can get well, or how a legal situation will ever get resolved. Maybe the negative thoughts are telling you “It’s over. Just accept it. It’s never going to get any better.”

But my encouragement to you is that God is a faithful God! He’s called the Author and the Finisher of our faith. God will never start something that He cannot finish. That promise He put in your heart—that you’re going to be healed, that you’re coming out of debt, that your family will be restored—God has every intention of bringing those promises to pass.

When God put the dream in your heart, He already had a completion date. He can already see it done. You may not see how it can happen. It may be taking a long time. All the odds are against you. But if you’ll just keep believing, keep praying, and keep being your best, then God promises He is going to finish what He started in you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father God, thank You for being the Author and Finisher of my faith. I choose to submit every area of my mind, will, and emotions to You. I invite You to have Your way in me and complete what You’ve started in my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Where Strength and Joy Are Found

Sunday, May 24, 2009

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

“Honor and majesty are [found] in His presence; strength and joy are [found] in His sanctuary ” (I Chronicles 16:27, AMP).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Do you need more strength and joy in your life? The Bible tells us that in God’s presence there is fullness of joy—the most abundant and complete! And when you have His joy, you have His supernatural strength. There’s nothing that can overtake you when you are filled with the strength and joy of the Lord.

Notice this verse says that strength and joy are found in His sanctuary. One translation says they are found “where He is.” And do you know “where He is”? His Spirit is alive in every believer; but in His Word, He promises that He inhabits or manifests in the praises of His people.

That means when you begin to praise and worship God, either corporately in a church setting or privately in your personal time, God is there. You are in His sanctuary. Anytime you feel depleted or overwhelmed, just begin to sing a song of praise to Him.

Declare His goodness and faithfulness. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you. He’ll fill you with His joy and strength so that you can live as an overcomer all the days of your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, I bless You today. I thank You for Your goodness in my life. Thank You for filling me with Your strength and joy, and I praise and worship You today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Business as Ministry

Saturday, May 23, 2009

by Dr. Harold Sala

"Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything… and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive." -Titus 2:9-10

The great 19th century Baptist preacher, Charles Haddon Spurgeon believed that the gospel is like a caged lion. It doesn’t need to be defended, just turned loose. But turning the gospel loose in a society and culture that draws hard and fast lines between the secular and sacred is not always easy.

The reality is that in the past fifty years the message has been caged and the door to the cage tightly bolted and locked, fearful that if the Good News is turned loose, it will permeate society affecting such radical changes that life will take on a new dimension. No wonder Christians are minimalized, labeled as right-wing extremists, and feared equally as terrorists or revolutionaries.

Says Nancy Pearcey in her award-winning book Total Truth, “Today the cage is our accommodation to the secular/sacred split that reduces Christianity to a matter of private personal belief. To unlock the cage, we need to become utterly convinced that, as Francis Schaeffer said, Christianity is not merely religious truth, it is total truth—truth about the whole of reality.”

Breaking out of the box, or the cage, as Pearcey thinks of it, is not easy. It is usually not done to the tune of beating drums and marching armies, but quiet forays into the world as God’s own march to the beat of a different drummer, and living out the gospel in a manner that makes God look good.

One such foray into the world of commerce, with a definite agenda that seeks to glorify God and make a difference, is a movement described as Business as Mission or the BAM movement, described by some as the next wave of world evangelization.

Seventy-five year old Ken Crowell is one of the pioneers of the movement. His company, Galtronics, has produced more than one billion antennae for wireless technology used by Motorola and Samsung. “When Crowell pioneered his work,” writes Joe Maxell, “he thought he was simply following God down a sometimes foggy but hopeful path of combining commerce with Christian witness.”

Prominently displayed in his shops and factories is a vision statement that reads: “Commit thy ways to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass,” the words of Psalm 37:5 written 3,000 years ago.

Crowell also produces small self-contained devices—much like an I-Pod—with a light-sensitive screen producing power, pre-programmed with Gospel programming and music, distributed in corners of the world where Christian radio doesn’t penetrate.

Another businessman is Don Parks, who—without realizing he was part of the BAM movement—began a steel-fabrication business, based on Scripture principles. His primary goal was not to enrich the founder but to produce funds for the support of international Christian ministries.

Guidelines’ board member Greg Sizemore, a successful developer, having heard of Mexican farmers who were being consistently cheated by unscrupulous money lenders known as “Coyotes” who would loan money at very high rates against the next year’s coffee crop.

Annoyed by the injustice, Greg formed a cooperative, began importing the coffee, and stumbled into a business as ministry endeavor. Yes, he has experienced resistance and had bumps in the road, but is gradually succeeding. The benefactors are the Mexican families whose income has accelerated.

Invading the world with business as ministry is good business from God’s perspective. In fact, it is exactly what Jesus did with His life until age 30, when he embarked on public ministry. It is exactly what Paul had in mind when he wrote to Titus advising slaves that “in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive” (Titus 2:10).

May God raise up an army of business men around the world dedicated to business as ministry, making a difference in our world, one business as a time—whether it is a small shop or a giant manufacturing plant.

The Sacrifice of Praise

Thursday, May 21, 2009

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name"(Hebrews 13:15, AMP).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

The Bible tells us there are many ways to praise and worship God— but have you ever thought about what it means to offer a sacrifice of praise? It means that we acknowledge God above our circumstances. We live our lives in such a way that we honor and glorify Him no matter what is going on around us. We rejoice in all things.

For example, when somebody offends you and you feel like giving them a piece of your mind, but instead you just smile, do you know what you just did? You were saying with your actions, “I am living at a higher level. I am acknowledging God in every circumstance.” On the freeway, when someone cuts you off and you’re just about to tell them what you think, but instead you look over and smile, that’s giving a sacrifice of praise.

Remember, God promises to dwell among the praises of His people. When you continually offer up praise, you are inviting God’s presence and power into every area of your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, I choose to praise and glorify You in all circumstances. Help me, by Your Spirit, to be a light and example to the world around me. Thank You for working in my heart. I bless You today and always. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Hope Beyond All Reason

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria
Are you facing a situation that seems hopeless? Maybe you have a promise from God that you haven’t seen come to pass yet. Perhaps it seems like it could have come to pass a few years ago, but now there’s no reason to hope any longer.
In the Bible, Abraham was in the same situation. He had a promise from God that He would be the father of many nations. The only problem was that both Abraham and His wife, Sarah, were well beyond child-bearing years. Abraham didn’t see any reason to hope. There was no way he could think of for God’s promise to come to pass.
But I love what this scripture says—even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept on hoping. He chose to have an attitude of faith and expectancy, and God was faithful to Abraham and fulfilled His promise!
I encourage you today, when you are facing a situation that looks hopeless, put your hope in God! He will never forsake You; He is the one, true, faithful God! When you hope beyond reason, you will see His promises fulfilled in every area of your life!

Why People Choose To Rejoice

Tuesday, May 19, 2009

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"Rejoice in the Lord, you [consistently] righteous (upright and in right standing with God), and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness"(Psalm 97:12, AMP).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

All through the scripture we are told to rejoice in the Lord always. It’s interesting that the word “rejoice” doesn’t just mean to be vocal and to give God praise with our words. Rejoice also means “to brighten up,” “to spin around,” and “to leap for joy.”

In other words, you rejoice with your actions. You rejoice with your countenance. Do you realize you can rejoice by simply putting a smile on your face?

When times are tough, when things aren’t going as planned, many people have a long, sour face. They’re down, discouraged, worried, and upset. But when you choose to rejoice, you smile and have a pleasant demeanor no matter what. And it’s not because you necessarily feel like it or because everything is perfect. You just simply smile by faith. You smile knowing that your expression is saying to God, “I trust You.

I know you are working all things out for my good.”Make the decision today and every day to rejoice in the Lord! Put a smile on your face and let the whole world know your hope is in the Lord.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father God, I choose to rejoice in You. I know that Your goodness goes way beyond my difficulty. I know that even when I don’t see a way, You are making a way for me. Fill me with Your supernatural peace and joy as I surrender every area of my life to You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Reverse and Restore, Why?

Monday, May 18, 2009

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"…Give praise and thanks to the Lord of hosts, for the Lord is good; for His mercy and kindness and steadfast love endure forever! For I will cause the captivity of the land to be reversed and return to be as it was at first, says the Lord"(Jeremiah 33:11, AMP).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Are you going through a difficult situation in your life? Today´s verse is a promise from God that tells us that when we have the voice of gladness and count it all joy, when we offer up the sacrifice of praise, God will cause captivity to be reversed and whatever has been stolen will be restored.

Two words I love here: reversed and restored. No matter what is going on around you, when you stay full of joy and praise, God is going to turn things around in your favor. He is going to reverse negative situations.

He´s going to restore things you thought were lost for good! But notice it doesn´t happen by complaining or being negative or sour. It happens when you have the voice of gladness, the voice of joy.

That means you get up in the morning with a song in your heart! You go out each day with a smile on your face. Things may not always go your way, but don´t get discouraged. Shake it off and count it all joy. When you live with this attitude, you might as well get ready–God is going to reverse and restore every area of your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, I come to you today giving you all that I am. I choose to praise you no matter what is going on. Fill my heart with joy and help me see the bright future You have in store for me. In Jesus´ Name. Amen.

Remember Your Victories

Friday, May 15, 2009

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph…"(II Corinthians 2:14, NKJ).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

When you think about your past, what events do you remember? What memories do you allow to play over and over in your mind? In the Old Testament, they had what they called memorial stones.

These were used to remind the people about the good things God did in their lives. We need to remind ourselves today to focus on our victories. Sure, we´ve all had setbacks, but when you meditate on your disappointments and failures, it only drains you of valuable energy. It steals your confidence and joy.

But when you focus on your victories, it builds your strength and confidence. It feeds your faith. It gives you a reason to give God praise. Praise catches God´s attention. He inhabits the praises of His people. And when God shows up on the scene, every enemy must flee!

I encourage you to get into the habit of focusing on your victories. Remember, every good and perfect gift comes from Him. As you praise and thank Him for His favor and victory in your life, He´ll open up supernatural doors for you to move forward into the abundant life He has for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, thank You for Your faithfulness in my life. I release every hurt from the past and choose to focus on my victories. I bless and praise You today for showing me Your goodness In Jesus´ Name. Amen.

You Have Conquering Power!

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

“Every God-begotten person conquers the world's ways. The conquering power that brings the world to its knees is our faith. The person who wins out over the world's ways is simply the one who believes Jesus is the Son of God” (I John 5:5, Message).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Did you know that you are pre-programmed for victory? As a child of the Most High God, you are filled with His conquering power. You are filled with the power to overcome all the negative, self-defeating forces of the world.

Do you know what that power is? It’s your faith. When you activate your faith, you are tapping into His unlimited strength. You are opening the door for Him to move supernaturally in your life.

Understand that faith causes you to live your life differently. It causes you to speak and act differently than before. When things come against you, instead of complaining and giving up, faith causes you to rise up and say, “No weapon formed against me shall prosper. I am able to do all things through Christ who gives me strength!”

Faith causes you to obey God’s Word and do the right thing even when the wrong thing is happening. When you choose to live the life of faith, you are choosing God’s best. You are choosing blessing. You are choosing to allow His conquering power to flow through every area of your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, thank You for filling me with Your conquering power. I choose to live in faith and declare Your promises over my life. I choose to follow Your Word. I choose Your ways knowing that You have good plans for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

When Trouble Comes, Are You Happy?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing"(James 1:2-4, NLT).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

When troubles come, it´s not natural to get excited about them. Most people don´t say, "Thank you, Lord, for this overwhelming challenge." You don´t go to the mailbox and joyfully exclaim, "Oh thank God–an unexpected bill!" But notice what happens when we remain joyful during the difficult times–it sets us on a course to maturity so that we can receive everything God has for us.

Remember that the key to growing is how you handle adversity. If you complain, you will remain. If you get negative and sour on life, you won´t pass the test. Promotion is available, but if you don´t count it all joy, you miss out. The good news is that God will give you another opportunity. He can still get you to where you need to be.

When somebody offends you, you have to decide that you aren´t going to be upset. When things aren´t going your way, instead of complaining, thank the Lord for an opportunity to grow. Count it all joy so that you can be all
God has called you to be!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, thank You so much for the work You are doing in my life. Even when I don´t understand what´s going on, I choose to trust you. I choose to count it all joy knowing You have a good plan for me. In Jesus´ Name. Amen.

Set Your Day!

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

“Set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth”(Colossians 3:2, AMP)

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Have you ever been laying in bed in the morning and out of nowhere you’re reminded of all the mistakes you made yesterday and all the problems you have in your future? That’s the enemy trying to set your mind for a negative, defeated, lousy day, but you don’t have to fall into that trap.

The Scripture says, “Set your mind and keep it set on the higher things.” This tells us that we have to be proactive. We have to stay on the offensive. When you get up in the morning, have the attitude that David did in the Psalms and say, “This is another day the Lord has made! No matter how I feel, no matter what the economy looks like, no matter what the medical report says, I am choosing to rejoice. I am choosing to be happy this day.”

You know what you’re really saying? You’re saying, “I’m not going to let other people steal my joy today. I’m not going to let disappointments and setbacks discourage me. I’m not going to focus on my problems and my mistakes. I’m making up my mind to embrace everything the Lord has in store for me!”

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, I choose to set my day by setting my mind on things above. I choose to shake off the cares of yesterday and focus on everything You have in store for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

What Makes You Happy?

Today's Scripture:

"Be happy [in your faith] and rejoice and be glad-hearted continually (always)"(I Thessalonians 5:16, AMP).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

How determined are you to enjoy each and every day? In today´s verse, notice how long we are supposed to be glad hearted. As long as people treat us right? As long as we feel okay? As long as the economy is up? No, it says, "Be glad hearted continually and always."

That means we´re to be glad in the good times and in the tough times, when it´s sunny and when it´s raining. When those dark clouds are over your head and you feel like life is kind of depressing, kind of gloomy, always remember right above those dark clouds the sun is shining. You may not be able to see the sun in your life right now, but that doesn´t mean it’s not up there.

The good news is that those clouds are just temporary. The sun is going to shine in your life once again. In the meantime, keep your joy. Be glad hearted continually!

Don´t let a few clouds sour your life. On the other side of every difficulty, the sun is shining! Make the decision to be glad always, and you´ll move forward in the victory He has in store for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, today I choose joy. I choose to make the most of every day. No matter what is happening around me, I choose to focus on your goodness so that I can move forward in the blessing you have for me. In Jesus´ Name. Amen.

Blessed are the Peacemakers, Why?

Saturday, May 9, 2009

by Dr. Harold Sala

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God." Matthew 5:9

One of the lessons which we often learn too late is that it is not only hard to keep the peace, but far more difficult to bring peace where there is none, to bring individuals to the conference table who are angry and hostile. “Blessed are the peacemakers,” said Jesus, “for they will be called sons of God” (Matthew 5:8).

Have you discovered that it is far easier to make war than to make peace? Strange, isn’t it? There is something about our natures which makes us want to assert our rights and authority, to stand up for what we think should be ours, whether it is the territory of another’s nation or the toys that children share in a sandbox.

Those who hold to “the spark of divinity” in every person need to take a look at children playing in a school yard. Their aggressive, sometimes hostile behavior makes me think that “the spark” came from the same one who tempted Eve in the Garden, rather than God whose basic nature is that of love and peace.

“What causes fights and quarrels among you?” asks James, the half-brother of Jesus Christ, who then answered his own question. “Don't they come from your desires that battle within you?” (James 4:1).

There are, however, those rare individuals who have the ability to bring hostile parties to the conference table, whether it be ministers of defense, employees who can’t work together, or husbands and wives who sleep in the same bed but no longer love each other. Thank God for the peacemakers!

Surprising as this statement may appear at first, it is a fact that conflict does not destroy relationships, or send hostile armies against each other, or break up families leaving children bruised and hurting. “OK,” you may be thinking, “If conflict doesn’t do it, then what does?” It is our refusal to resolve the conflict.

It is our stubborn refusal to bend, to see the other person’s point of view, to yield what we think is our just deserts. Yes, a battle of the wills. What’s the secret to conflict resolution, or is there one? The mechanics of conflict resolution involve two rather simple ingredients, negotiation and compromise, but the extremely difficult part is getting people to understand the tremendous cost when we stubbornly refuse to resolve issues.

That’s the part that peacemakers play. Before you draw a line in the sand and prepare for battle--whether it is with your husband or son, your business competitor, or your worst enemy--think carefully of the consequences. Is it worth it? Ask any mother whose son comes home in a body bag, unrecognized apart from the name and number on his dog tags. Ask any husband whose stupid refusal to harness his wandering lust results in losing his wife of 20 years, his respect, and his children. “But I won!” Did you really? The fact is there are no winners, only losers.

“Son of God” is the title which Jesus gave to the one who is a peacemaker. If a son reflects the image of His father, surely in this we see the nature and character of our Heavenly Father. Not only is God described as “the God of peace” some five times in the New Testament, but it is His desire that His children be peacemakers as well.

How say it better that did the writer of Hebrews when he wrote, “May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen” (Hebrews 13:20-21).

Prepare For Victory

Friday, May 8, 2009

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

“Now set your mind and heart to seek (inquire of and require as your vital necessity) the Lord your God”(I Chronicles 22:19, AMP).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

We all have opportunities to lose our joy and get discouraged trying to endure life. But God never intended for us to just endure life, He created us to enjoy life. And whether you realize it or not, you prepare for either victory or defeat at the start of every day.

When you get up in the morning, you have to choose to set your mind in the right direction. You may feel discouraged. You may be thinking, “I don’t want to go to work today.” “I don’t want to deal with these children.” “I’ve got so many problems.”

However, if you dwell on those negative thoughts, then you are preparing for a lousy day. Instead, turn it around and say, “This is going to be a great day. Something good is going to happen to me. God has favor in my future and I’m expecting new opportunities, divine connections, and supernatural breakthroughs.”

When you take on this attitude, you are preparing for victory, increase, and restoration! Having an attitude of faith allows God to show up and show out in unusual ways. It opens the door for Him to work in your life and pour out His supernatural blessing on you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, I choose to set my heart and mind on You today. I know that You have good things planned for me. Use me to be a blessing to others. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Don't Give Away Your Power

Today's Scripture:

“And don’t sin by letting anger control you. Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry” (Ephesians 4:26, NLT).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Do you realize how much energy it takes to be bitter or hold a grudge? We only have a certain amount of energy for each day. If we use it for the wrong purposes, focused on the negative, dwelling on who hurt us, we’re not going to have the energy we need for the right purposes. We’re not going to make the best decisions. We’re not going to be as creative. We’re not only doing ourselves a disservice, but we’re doing our family and our friends a disservice.

Remember, you can’t control what people do or say. You can only control yourself. If you’re allowing others to upset you, then you are giving away your power. The Scripture says, “Don’t let the sun go down on your anger.” The reason many people have no joy or enthusiasm is because they go to bed every night with anger and unforgiveness.

When you go to bed like that, with a cluttered mind, focused on the negative, you wake up with the same negative emotions. Don’t let anger and unforgiveness block God’s blessing in your life. Choose to let those things go so you can live in the peace, joy, and power the Lord has for you.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, today I am releasing every negative thing that has happened to me. I’m forgiving every person who has hurt me. I’m forgiving myself for mistakes I’ve made and releasing every disappointment so that I can live in Your peace and victory. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Why People Needs Encouragement?

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

by Dr. Harold Sala

"I am sending him to you for the express purpose that you may know about our circumstances and that he may encourage your hearts." -Colossians 4:8

It does not take much perception to notice that there is something about life that always seems to be working against you. Call it Murphy's Law, fate, or cloak it in theological language and describe it as man's old nature.

It is all of these and more. It is what makes people pessimists and causes them to go out of their way to tell you that what you want to do is impossible, that you are destined to failure, that your idea is impractical, and that you are really a dumb dumb.

Furthermore, way down deep in the bedrock of your heart are some negative feelings which tell you, “Hey, maybe those guys are right.” You really know better, but if you are not careful you tend to believe them. Proverbs 23:7 puts it, "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he."

Jesus said that out of your heart come the issues of life. When you think negatively, you begin to perform and think the same way. Inversely, when you believe you can, you can. Your attitude becomes predictive of your performance. If you listen to words of encouragement, your spirit perks up and your whole attitude takes on a positive, upbeat stance, but when you allow discouragement to penetrate your heart, your attitude becomes pessimistic and negative.

Not only do you need personal encouragement, but you also need to practice encouraging someone else. I need encouragement to accomplish what God has called me to do. So do you, but when I encourage you my spirit is lifted within me and I do a better job. That is why you have so much to do with the success and/or failure of the people with whom you work.

I mentioned that much of life seems to be working against you, and that is not pessimism it is a realistic observation. It is this that you have to overcome. For every person who pats you on the back verbally, who shares a positive word of encouragement, there are a half-dozen or more who clobber you, telling you what you did not do instead of what you did.

Slipping into negative patterns comes easy. When I had teenagers at home, I would often arrive home at the end of the day, weary and in a less than joyful mood. I would catch myself pointing out what had not gotten done instead of appreciating what had been done--the untrimmed grass by the tree or the weeds that were still in the garden.

The habit of encouragement has to be cultivated. It does not come naturally. The past six months have been some of the busiest of my life, and I've noticed it is so very easy for me to look at everything that needs to be done instead of noticing what has been done along with the beautiful roses which are in bloom and the white clouds which contrast a sky of blue, or appreciating how crisp and clean the morning air is.

I think we tend to do the same thing in our marriages and our homes. I am thinking of the couple who came for counseling. No, there were no big issues, just a lot of nagging annoyances. After listening to a recital of petty woes and failures, I gave them an assignment before my next session.

Make a list of all the things you admire in each other," I asked. They did, and it was indeed a changed couple who freely admitted that they did not know the other really admired some things in them. They had only focused on what they didn’t like.

We find what we look for, not only in others but in ourselves as well. Encouragement strengthens the heart and puts resolve in our actions. It can make the difference between success and failure, sunshine and gloom.

Procrastination, Why?

by Dr. Harold Sala

"If anyone chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own." -John 7: 17

"Procrastination," says Webster's Dictionary, is "the putting off or delaying of doing something until a later time." And it's always bad, right? Wrong! There are times when not dealing with a situation is a good choice. But is that really procrastination, or is it simply the decision not to make a decision at that point?

Queen Victoria, it is said, always avoided making a decision as long as possible, thinking that the longer she could wait in dealing with a situation, the less likely it would be that she would have to make a decision. Napoleon Bonaparte answered his mail only once a month because he found that in the intervening period of time, the problem had often resolved itself. Obviously, he lived before the days of e-mail, faxes, and communication by satellite.

Aaron Burr, the American patriot, once advised, "Never do today what you can as well do tomorrow because something may occur to make you regret your premature action." But, of course, Burr didn't follow his own advice; otherwise, in a fit of anger he would not have fought the duel with Alexander Hamilton, which forever checkered his reputation and career.

There are times when waiting, doing nothing at all, is not procrastination but the decision to await God's timing and will. While procrastination may be the thief of time, as the English poet Edward Young suggested 400 years ago, it is also true that haste is the parent of 9/10 of our mistakes. More people get into trouble making wrong decisions because they didn't have all the facts or saying things without knowing all the circumstances, than those who say or do the wrong thing because they take too long addressing an issue or problem.

Take, for example, rushing into a business transaction where the smooth talking salesman gives you the pitch that you have to buy that evening to take advantage of the good price he offers you. Or what of the person who rushes into a marriage without really knowing the person who is pressuring you to go to the altar. Marry in haste and repent in leisure.

Over the years I have learned, sometimes through painful experience, that if I am uncertain about a given situation, the best course of action is to wait, lay the matter before the Lord in prayer, and seek advice or counsel from someone older or wiser, and make a decision only when I have come to a conclusion as to what is the right thing to do. Waiting in such a situation is not procrastination, which can be applied only from the point at which you know what you should do. Awaiting the knowledge of what you should do is wisdom; avoiding doing what you know should be done is procrastination.

Recently, I've gotten acquainted with a young man who has become interested in knowing who Jesus Christ really is. Much of the information about Christianity with which he grew up is inaccurate; he wanted to know for himself. For a period of time, he read, talked and thought. Making a decision, for him, at that point, was premature. Eventually, he became convinced that Jesus was and is the Son of God, and then he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Jesus Himself said, "If anyone chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own" (John 7:17). That period of searching, exploring, and fact finding is not procrastination. It becomes procrastination after a person has come to an understanding of the truth. Where are you, friend? Searching or procrastinating? It is one or the other, but never both. Think about it.

Why are Merciful People Blessed?

Blessed Are The Merciful
by Dr. Harold Sala

"Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy." -Matthew 5:7

A certain woman whose vanity exceeded her looks had her picture taken by a local photographer, and when she went to view the proofs which had not been touched up to cover her flaws, she was noticeably disturbed. “These pictures do not do me justice,” she angrily flung at the photographer. “Lady,” he responded, “it isn’t justice you need; it’s mercy!” The fact is that we are all in need of mercy, and like the woman, think that we are in better condition than we really are.

When Jesus delivered the series of blessings we call Beatitudes, one of them was, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” Interestingly enough, the Bible mentions the word “mercy” over 370 times. This great, awesome God who created us is a God of mercy. “Rich in mercy” is the phrase which Paul used (see Ephesians 2:4), and that fact stands in contradiction to pagan Gods whose wrath had to be satisfied, often with human blood. Anthropologists are quick to tell you that the quality of mercy is never an attribute of pagan deities.

The Romans spoke of four great virtues: wisdom, justice, temperance, and courage, but mercy was never included in the qualities that governed their lives. To the contrary, the very image of a Roman legion was that of inflicting cruel punishment or justice. Very reluctantly the Roman emperor gave the “thumb’s up” sign sparing the life of the vanquished in the arena, something which was supposed to be a generous act of mercy.

What place is there for mercy in our world today? Frankly, there’s room for a lot more of it. I’m thinking of a retired judge who was known for his involvement and kindness to those who came to his court. As he slumped over in his automobile, the victim of a heart attack, by-passers quickly opened the car door, then removed his watch, gold ring, and wallet and left him to die.

I hardly expect mercy to be an attribute of the person who is in rebellion against God, but when it comes to the children of God, “like father, like son” should be the norm. God’s mercy extends from generation to generation, so says Luke 1:50, and as God touches a life and fills a believer’s heart with His presence, mercy is one of the attributes or characteristics of that life which Paul calls the fruit of the Spirit.

Question: Do you find that you rejoice more in justice than mercy? None of us can really hope for more than mercy when it comes to what we deserve at the hand of the Almighty; therefore, we, in turn, must strive to reflect that attitude with our children, our business colleagues, our dealings with friends and associates.

Here’s the way Paul put it: “Since you have been chosen by God who has given you this new kind of life, and because of his deep love and concern for you, you should practice tenderhearted mercy and kindness to others....” (Colossians 3:12, LB).

A final thought: While God’s mercy has been shown from generation to generation, there is an end to it. Remember, at the flood God said, “My spirit shall not always strive with man.” Likewise, you will not find the word mercy in the book of Revelation, not even once. Instead, you do find a generous outpouring of God’s wrath and justice. But the door is still open.

As Paul put it, “But anyone who asks for mercy from the Lord shall have it and shall be saved” (Acts 2:21, LB).

Wisdom not only says, “Ask for it, but practice it as well.” Jesus was right: “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy” (Matthew 5:7).

God and Miracle Today

by Dr. Harold Sala

"I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask anything in my name, and I will do it." -John 14:12 14

If God really is supernatural, should we think it so strange when the miraculous occurs? In other words, do we have any right to expect the miraculous today? Or should we conclude that God put our world into operation and then withdrew, leaving our world to run itself? There is one thing for certain.

The twelve men who walked with Jesus Christ experienced a great deal of the supernatural, for Christ, according to the Gospels, touched blind eyes and men saw. He cleansed the lepers. He unstopped deaf ears, and the lame walked. This, of course, was very unsettling to some of the people who were present, especially the religious leaders who were convinced that God could, but to actually see it, was rather distressing. How could they account for it?

Paul explained, writing to the Corinthians, "God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them..." (2 Corinthians 5:19). Paul's explanation was that God's power was manifest in the life of His Son, Jesus Christ. Miracles were not any problem because they believed that when Christ did something miraculous, God was working through Him. And it is also an historical fact that miracles were prominent in the early church.

After the day of Pentecost, Peter and John went to the temple and encountered a lame man. "We do not have any silver and gold," Peter explained. "But we will give you what we have. In the name of Jesus Christ, rise up and walk." The man got to his feet and walked, leaping and praising God.

Luke, the historian for the early church said, "And they were continually devoting themselves to the Apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. And everyone kept feeling a sense of awe, and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles."

Later in the Book of Acts he says, "Many signs and wonders were taking place among the people; and they were all with one accord in Solomon's portico." Mark closes his Gospel saying, "And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the Word by the signs that followed."

Unquestionably, these early Christians expected the supernatural because God was no natural happenstance to them. They were simple men who had nothing, yet had everything. What they had, the church today seems to have lost! Were those miracles confined to the days of the first century alone?

Some believe so, and never see anything more miraculous than a common cold going away in three days. Yet others believe the words of Hebrews 13:8 which says Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever, and expect God to meet them in ways that offer no human explanation, and it happens. From its inception Christianity has been cradled in the supernatural, and it can only follow that its very nature and character are the same today.

To His disciples in the Upper Room, the night before the crucifixion, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask anything in my name, and I will do it " (John 14:12 14).

Do you believe it? Then believe that God will do that for which there is no human explanation. Yes, as the songwriter put it, "I believe in miracles."

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. " (Psalm 107:1, NLT).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

As a young man growing up, I loved to play baseball. And like any child that ever put on a uniform, I dreamed one day of making it to “the big leagues.” In the world of baseball, there’s nothing bigger than Yankee Stadium, and on Saturday night, I stood at second base in front of a packed crowd.

But instead of a baseball glove in my hand, I had the Word of God. A dream had come true – and it was better than I could have possibly imagined.

Our historic night of hope from Yankee stadium was the first non-baseball event ever held at the world-famous ballpark, and it was also our first open air stadium event as a ministry. It was a night Victoria and I will never forget.

My prayer is that the tens of thousands in attendance and the millions more watching on television will always remember – God is good!

When it feels like your dreams will never come true, when the challenges, pain and pressures in life become overwhelming, you’ll be tempted to forget that God is good. His Word reminds us that His faithfulness and His love endure forever.

God’s goodness is stronger and mightier than anything you’ll face in life. If you’ll keep holding on to your dreams and thanking God for His goodness, He’ll make your dreams come true. And it’ll be better than you could ever have imagined.

On behalf of our entire ministry team, Victoria and I would like to thank you for helping to make this amazing night happen. We believe that God did something extraordinary in the hearts of everyone who experienced this powerful event. We know we could not have done it without your prayers and support.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father God, thank you for being so good and loving us so much. Help us to always give thanks, no matter what we’re going through, because we know that we can count on your faithful love that endures forever. Give us the courage to keep holding on to our dreams as we trust in you. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Where Is God In Times Of Trouble?

by Dr. Harold Sala

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you; and when you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon you, for I am the LORD, thy God, the Holy One of Israel." -Isaiah 43:2 3, KJV

When I was in Jerusalem, our Jewish guide began to tell about his birth in Germany and the persecution that followed in the early days of World War II. With growing emotional intensity he told how his father was seized by the Gestapo and never heard from again. The family escaped to another country in Europe.

With growing anger the tempo of his conversation increased, and then almost as though he was venting some of his wrath, he said, "Where was God when the 6 million Jews were cremated?" It was an old question. Where is God in times of disaster? “Where was God when 4 million Cambodians were slaughtered in 1975 and 1976?” was the question of a young Cambodian friend when I ministered in that country.

Many years ago the ancestors of some of my Jewish friends were facing a difficult period of trial. The Jews faced the prospect of captivity in Babylon. Families were being torn apart. Lives disrupted. And God said, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you; and when you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon you, for I am the LORD, thy God, the Holy One of Israel" (Isaiah 43:2 3, KJV).

During another time of national disaster, the prophet Nahum said, "The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows them that trust in Him" (Nahum 1:7, NKJV). Right here, we find a key that helps us understand God's position in times of disaster. "He knows them that trust in Him." What does that mean? Certainly it does not imply that some are spared suffering while others who are less righteous are confronted with it.

When a nation suffers, the righteous, or the good man, alongside the evil, or pagan suffers the same, but there is a difference. The man who trusts in the Lord finds strength, a help, an answer that the unbeliever does not have. One man in simple faith casts himself on the mercy of God. He discovers that Nahum is right God is a stronghold in the day of trouble; the other man, not having anyone to turn to, curses the difficulty and dies in his despair.

Where is God in times of suffering? When my Jewish friend asked about God's presence when 6 million Jews were cremated, I responded by saying, "He was in the same place He was when His Son was crucified outside the walls of Jerusalem." There are some questions that will never be fully answered until we stand in the presence of God, but to turn from Him in the day of trouble leaves only bleak despair.

Christ never promised deliverance from all difficulty, but He did promise His presence in the time of trouble. "He said, never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we may say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5-6)

And how does this affect your life? Chances are you will never face the mental anguish I have talked about today, yet who knows? Nonetheless, you will face suffering, for it comes to all of us eventually. You will face times of distress.

You will be confronted with pressure, and when these knock at your door you can either turn to Him, who will be a refuge, or face difficulty alone. Trust Him, for you will find the promises of His Word are sure. He will never leave nor forsake you.

Why People Disappear Suddenly?

Why People Disapper Suddenly?

Take a look at the video and you will know why people disappear suddenly. This is a breath-taking video.

“According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.” - 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

What If Jesus Was Not Who He Claimed To Be?

Sunday, May 3, 2009

by Dr. Harold Sala

"My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one." -John 10:29-30

“The large print giveth; the fine print taketh away” says popular wisdom—which accounts for the importance of attorneys and legal experts who define the fine print. I’ve come to conclude that by and large, people don’t want to be bothered with the fine print. They want you to tell them what they want to hear and then they sign on the bottom line.

But the fine print makes the difference between winning and losing, between having something of substance and only thinking you have it. In the event that you have been following this series, I’ve been pondering a series of “what ifs” and what are their implications. There are some issues, however, which are so important that you dare not leave them to other people to decide. You’ve got to decide for yourself. You have to evaluate the evidence and decide.

The appearance of Jesus Christ on planet Earth is one of the best documented facts of history. Only an individual blinded with prejudice would attempt to defend the premise that Jesus Christ never lived, never walked the dusty roads of Judea, and never met His death at the hands of Roman soldiers. His existence is not an issue, but the seminal issue is, who was He, and what did He do?

For a few moments ponder this “what if?” What if Jesus was not who He claimed to be? Stop. And what did Jesus claim? It doesn’t take a theologian to convince you that Jesus claimed to be God, and the writers of the New Testament were clear witnesses of that position. Furthermore, they believed His claim was absolutely factual, borne out by what He did.

OK, now that I’ve given you the bottom line, let me fill in the gaps. John’s Gospel begins with a position statement. It says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). Referring to Jesus as The Word, John alleges that Jesus was God. Therefore, if God had neither beginning nor end, neither did this One known as His Son.

Even Jesus’ most bitter enemies acknowledged that He claimed to be God. Take time to study the last few verses of John’s Gospel, chapter 8. In this passage, Jesus challenges the spiritual leaders of His day saying, “My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me. Though you do not know him, I know him.”

Then Jesus said that Abraham saw His day and rejoiced in it, and the Jews rebut, “You are not yet fifty years old and you have seen Abraham!” Then, said Jesus, “Before Abraham was born, I am!” Without an understanding of the languages in which the Bible was written that doesn’t mean much, but Jesus was using the precise wording that meant He was saying He was God.

What are the implications of all of this? C. S. Lewis put it so well when he wrote that if Jesus was not God, He was also not good, for He claimed to be God, and therefore would be a deceiver and an impostor.

The implications are devastating. If He was not God, then His death meant nothing, for other good men have died both before and after Him. If He was not God, then, by and large, Christians have believed something that is not true. And most poignant of all, if He was not God, we are yet in our sin.

In his massive History of Civilization, historian Will Durant tells how for 200 years German theologians and philosophers sought to discredit the historical Jesus, but they have been buried and even their names are forgotten, except in a few universities, yet Christianity continues to change the lives of men and women around the world. The hammer has worn out, but the anvil remains—generation after generation after generation.

What is God's Breath?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

In Genesis, the Bible tells us that God breathed life into Adam. Not only does God breathe life into our physical bodies, He breathes life into our dreams and desires. He breathes new life and inspiration into your heart. I believe, even right now, He’s breathing a bigger vision into your spirit.

One scripture says, “It’s not by our might. It’s not by our power. But it’s by the breath of Almighty God.” As God breathes on your life, things are going to get easier. Negative situations are going to turn around. You’re going to have wisdom beyond your years. You’re going to have a resolve that will not give up, an attitude that refuses to quit.

Everywhere you go, you need to imagine the most powerful force in the universe is blowing in your direction. Believe that His favor and inspiration are on your life. Look for those opportunities that God will use to take you further than you dreamed.

As you trust that God is breathing in your direction, you’ll see His hand of grace and favor moving you forward in victory in every area of your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Heavenly Father, thank You for breathing in my direction. Thank You for giving life to my dreams, hopes, and desires. I trust that Your favor is working on my behalf. I give You glory for every good thing in my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Why is GOD Faithful?

Saturday, May 2, 2009

by Dr. Harold Sala

“The better I know some people, the more I love my dog!” goes a bit of doggerel. Why? Dogs are faithful: they love you no matter what. The same cannot always be said of people, ourselves included. Though man is made in the likeness of God, it is in the area of faithfulness and commitment that we are so vastly different.

One of the great differences between the fickleness of the flesh and the unchangeable nature of God is His faithfulness. “If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself,” says Paul to Timothy (2 Timothy 2:13, NKJV).

Moses, a man who knew something of the mercurial nature of humankind, wrote, “Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands” (Deuteronomy 7:9).

In 1923 Thomas Chisholm wrote the words of a hymn often sung for harvest or Thanksgiving festivals. A stanza goes, “Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father! / There is no shadow of turning with Thee; / Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not: / As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.” Then the chorus goes, “Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! / Morning by morning new mercies I see; / All I have needed Thy hand hath provided; / Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!”

It is still true. Though we tend to focus on certain characteristics of God that we call attributes, it is really unfair to single out one, such as faithfulness, and isolate it from the whole of God’s character. Actually, the attributes or characteristics of God are so intertwined that the function of one becomes the adjunct of another. Nonetheless I think of faithfulness as the sinew which holds the whole together, or the foundation upon which all the attributes and character of God really rest.

God is faithful in His promises of Scripture. Playing no favorites, God will let me come boldly into His presence, my heart assuring me that what God has done for others who have met Him, He will do for me. I like the way Paul put it when he said, “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God” (2 Corinthians 1:20). Paul is saying that when God honors His promise, we smile and say, “Amen, God! You did it again!”

All that God does is in perfect accord with what God is, and it is here that we sometimes go wrong. Naturally, we like to receive from God, but we often divorce the reality of who God is from what we want. This often means that we think of God only in terms of what we can get out of Him, rather than in terms of a relation with God, worshiping Him for who He is.

God is faithful in responding to the needs of His children. Many people—perhaps you included—find this hard to understand because their dad was not there when they were growing up. “Unfaithfulness” was more accurate than a “faithful” Father. He abides faithful, is Paul’s testimony.

God is also faithful, executing justice upon the wicked and mercy upon those who seek Him. In life we see many inequities and wrongs, but ultimately God will right the wrong and reward the faithful. Of one great truth you can always be confident: God is a faithful God, keeping faith with a thousand thousand generations, even to the end of the age.

Why God's Promises Are "Yes and Amen"?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us."(2 Corinthians 1:20, NKJ)

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

You may not realize it, but God has already said “yes” to His promises in your life. You don’t have to beg God to be good to you. You don’t have to plead with Him to help you. God wants to help you. He wants to pour out blessing in your life.

It also says that His promises are “amen.” That means “so be it”—it’s a done deal. All you have to do is make sure you are living up to your end of the bargain. See, God’s love is unconditional, but He has requirements for us to fulfill in order to see His promises come to pass in our lives.

For example, Malachi 3:10 says that we have to bring our tithes in order to see the windows of heaven opened. It says in Deuteronomy 5 that we are to honor our parents in order to live a long life. The good news is, when we surrender our hearts to Him, He empowers us to fulfill every one of His commands.

You stand secure knowing that God is faithful! Keep standing, keep believing, and keep following His commands because His promises are “yes” and “amen” in your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father God, thank You for Your faithfulness and goodness in my life. I believe that Your plan is to pour out Your blessing and favor on me. Give me the strength to obey Your commands all the days of my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Why People Rejoice in the Difficult Times?

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE

"We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation"(Romans 5:3-4, NLT).

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Did you know that the way you handle your adversities has a huge impact on your success in life? If you shrink back, choose to get bitter, and lose your enthusiasm, then you are allowing the difficulties of life to bury you.

You are allowing hardship to keep you from your God-given destiny. But if you choose to keep pressing forward with a smile on your face, rejoicing even in the hard times, you are allowing God’s character to be developed inside of you. You are setting yourself up for promotion.

Did you know that the only difference between a piece of black coal and a priceless diamond is the amount of pressure that it’s endured? When you stand strong in the midst of the trials and difficulties in life, when you allow God to shape and mold your character, it’s like going from a piece of coal to a priceless diamond.

Those difficulties are going to give way to new growth, new potential, new talent, new friendships, new opportunities, new vision. You’re going to see God develop your life in ways that you’ve never even dreamed!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, thank You for giving me strength to overcome every obstacle in life. I choose to rejoice no matter what may come against me because I know You are working all things together for my good. Thank You for developing Your character in me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
