TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“And you shall be secure and feel confident because there is hope…”(Job 11:18 AMP)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

In the world today, it seems there are so many things trying to pull us down. Every time you turn around, you’re being bombarded with bad news. Life can be difficult, but there is a peace that God can give you in the midst of the challenge.

If you’ll keep your hopes up and keep your mind focused in the right direction, you’ll get to the place where you’ll say, “I should be upset. I should be losing sleep at night. But I’m not the least bit worried. I know God is still on the throne. I know He’s working this out for my good.”

When you keep your hopes up, you eventually step into the anointing of ease. You don’t drag around discouraged or despondent. You’re in faith, hoping, believing, and expecting. That’s when God will move on your behalf.

That’s when you’ll look up and say, “You know what? I don’t struggle in this area anymore. God took the pressure off. Things are starting to fall into place.” You may not be there just yet, but there is hope! God who promised to deliver you is faithful, and He will lead you in victory all the days of your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

“Heavenly Father, I declare that I put my trust and hope in You. I know that You are faithful, and I believe that You are making a way where there seems to be no way. Fill me with Your peace and joy and give me the strength to serve You all the days of my life. In Jesus’ Name.”

May I disturb you?

Last Sunday, I disturbed the 6000+ people attending the Kerygma Conference.

Because that morning, God disturbed me too.

He woke me up and told me to totally change my talk. Just like that. I had barely a few minutes to prepare, so I didn’t even know everything I was going to say.

On stage, I opened the Bible to Matthew 11:28:“Come to me all of you who are weary and tired and I will give you rest…” That passage is so well known, you even see it in Hallmark cards. But very few read the hard-to-understand verse after that. Verse 29 says, “Take my yoke upon you…”

Which is a rather strange way of giving someone rest!

Just in case you didn’t know, a yoke is the heavy wooden beam that you put on cattle or oxen, so they could pull a plow or pull a wagon. Not very restful, I assure you. What in the world was Jesus talking about?

I told the 6000+ people listening to me that there were two kinds of tired people: Those tired because of their trials and those tired because of their sins. And it was the second group of people I wanted to speak to.

Are you tired because of the yoke of sin?

I believe no one on this planet ever walks without a yoke. No one! There are only two yokes available: You either carry the yoke of God or the yoke of sin. (Anyone who defines “freedom” as freedom away from God is carrying the heaviest yoke or burden of all.)

I then told my audience, “God woke me up this morning to tell me that today, we need to make a commitment—on our knees—to the yoke of purity.”

That day, I just felt a burden in my heart to preach about purity.

I said, “You either carry the yoke of purity or the yoke of impurity. Both are yokes. But one is a million times heavier than the other. And the word ‘million’ is a gross understatement.”

The crowd was silent. More silent than usual. I knew I was hitting a sore spot—a topic no one wanted to talk about.

“Friends, I know the yoke of impurity,” I said, “I was addicted to pornography for decades. Let me tell you—I liken porn to swallowing vomit. It sucked my life. It consumed so much of my time and energy, it almost destroyed my life and dreams. Until God came into my life and He asked me to give it up, in exchange for the beautiful and very light yoke of purity.”

A Word To Boyfriends And Girlfriends

I also talked to singles in relationships. “Stop playing around with this beautiful gift of purity. Don’t open this gift, toss it around, or smudge it. Preserve it and give it to each other on the day of your wedding.”

I asked them to set the bar high. “When my wife and I became boyfriend and girlfriend, we decided not to kiss each other on the lips. It was crazy. And believe me, it was difficult! The struggle was great. But we set the bar very high so that if ever we failed, the slippage won’t be deep. That decision kept our relationship pure. We explored each other’s minds, not each other’s bodies. On our wedding day, we were able to give ourselves the beautiful gift of purity.”

“I know that others put the bar so low,” I said. “As long as they don’t have sex, they think they can do whatever they want. But singles who do this find out sooner or later that they destroy the gift of purity.”

I also spoke to those who already lost their virginity. “Physical virginity is important. But spiritual virginity is more important. Even if you’ve done ‘it’ before, make a decision with your boyfriend or girlfriend to keep your relationship pure from this day forth. And God will give you spiritual virginity. This is the gift that you’ll give each other on your wedding day.”

Renounce Emotional Adultery

I then spoke to husbands and wives.

“Physical adultery is obviously sinful. But how many of you reject Emotional Adultery? When God invented marriage, He designed you to give 100% of your thoughts, your affections, your emotions, your attractions to one person and one person alone. When you do that, your marriage is dynamite. Powerful. Magnificent. Your marriage blooms because you invest all that you have to one person. But when you slice up your thoughts and affections and give one sliver to this other person and another sliver to this other person, you scatter your power. Don’t wonder why your marriage lacks depth and joy and love.”

That day, I led all 6000+ to kneel down.

First, the singles. Second, the couples.

All of us repented of our sins.

All of us received His forgiveness.

All of us gave up the yoke of impurity.

All of us took on the yoke of purity.

All of us made a solemn commitment to live a life of purity.

It was so powerful, so moving, you could see people in tears.

Many were set free that day.

Friends, I invite you to make the same commitment today.

Take the yoke of purity.

Jesus wants to set you free.

May your dreams come true! (^_^)

God’s Love Letter For You – [click here]

It happened more than 60 years ago.

A frail, pale, and bedridden woman named Magdalena was suffering with tuberculosis. Breathing was very labored.

An only child cared for her. A 19-year old beautiful girl named Pilar.

One day, Magdalena said, “Pilar, I want to go to Pacita. Today!” She was talking about her sister. Both were very close to each other. Tragically, like her sister, Pacita was also sick and bedridden for many years.

Pilar said, “Mama, what are you talking about? You’re bedridden! How can we go all the way to Auntie Pacita? She lives in San Juan.” And because it was the Japanese war, there were very few vehicles on the street. So bringing a bedridden woman to another city was almost impossible.

But the old woman was adamant. “My sister Pacita is calling me. I need to go to her now!”

But her daughter put her foot down. “Mama, we can’t leave the house!” In Pilar’s mind, she thought her mother was hallucinating.

But the very next day, it happened: Magdalena finally took her last labored breath. Her daughter Pilar was devastated. But as it was wartime, there were no proper wakes or funerals possible. She had to act fast. On that same day, Pilar placed her mother’s body in a cheap wooden coffin. She pushed the coffin in a wheeled “cariton” all the way to the cemetery.

Late that afternoon, Pilar met a friend on the street.

“My condolences, Pilar,” the friend said, “your Auntie Pacita was a good woman.”

“Huh?” Pilar was confused. “I think you got it wrong. It was my mother who died today, not my Auntie Pacita. She’s still in San Juan…”

The friend was shocked. “What? Your mother died?”

“Yes, my mother Magdalena died early this morning,” Pilar said, “not Auntie Pacita.”

Her friend covered her mouth. “Oh no. I’m so sorry. I just came from San Juan. Your Auntie Pacita died yesterday too….”

Pilar’s head was spinning. For a few moments, she couldn’t speak. Two sisters dying one day after another!

Finally, she was able to ask, “Did you say Auntie died yesterday?”

“Yes. Why?”

She couldn’t believe her ears. “Yesterday, Mama was insisting she visit Auntie Pacita. Somehow, she knew that her sister was dying at that precise moment.”

The woman said, “This morning, did you know that Auntie Pacita’s body passed by right in front of your house on their way to the cemetery?”

“This morning?” Pilar asked.

It was almost like Pacita fetched her sister Magdalena.

To Heaven.

Sixty years later, my mother Pilar told me this amazing story.

I never saw my grandmother because I was born 22 years after her death.

It seemed as though the souls of Magdalena and Pacita were communicating prior to their deaths—and after.

Friends, do you believe in ghosts? I believe in souls.

Do you have true stories like these that speak about how there is life after death? That reality isn’t just the physical world we see?

Share it with us at the comments section below.

These stories will remind us that our life on planet Earth is short, and that we always need to be ready to go home with God—anytime.

By the way, I believe the best way to prepare is to strengthen your personal relationship with God.

May your dreams come true,

Bo Sanchez

You Will Be Blessed – [click here]

-Author Unknown-

Blessed are those who are too tired, too busy, too distracted to spend an hour once a week with their fellow Christians in Church – they are my best workers.

Blessed are those Christians who wait to be asked and expect to be thanked – I can use them.

Blessed are the touchy, with a bit of luck they may stop going to church – they are my missionaries.

Blessed are those who are very religious but get on everyone’s nerves – they are mine forever.

Blessed are the troublemakers – they shall be called my children.

Blessed are those who have no time to pray – they are easy prey for me.

Blessed are the gossipers – for they are my secret agents.

Blessed are those critical of church leadership – for they shall inherit a place with me in my fate.

Blessed are the complainers – I’m all ears for them.

Blessed are you when you read this and think it is about other people and not yourself – I’ve got you.

A friend of mine sent me this powerful testimony of a Muslim girl who had a great faith in Christ Jesus.

***

A Saudi girl, Fatima Al-Mutairi, was just martyred by her brother because of her faith in Jesus Christ. Please pray for her family, her tribe, and her country. Below is the poem she wrote.

The life and testimony of Fatima bint Mohamed bin Uthman Al-Mutairi, a Saudi woman who was killed by her own brother in August 2008 because she followed Jesus Christ.

Fatima loved her Savior enough to die for His name. She loved her family enough to proclaim the truth to them, despite the terror and danger. She loved her people, the Saudi people, and was exceedingly proud to be Saudi. She loved Saudi Arabia with all of her heart, as her poem clearly portrays. She is blessed, for Christ said, “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Indeed, she beholds the kingdom of heaven even now.

Fatima was burned alive after having her tongue cut by her brother. But her words are not cut from our memories. Her words will stand, and they speak of Christ who loves her people… Christ who died for their sins.

In her last letter before her death, after being locked in her room for 4 hours, she cited David’s Psalm “The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear?” Truly, truly, the Spirit of the Lord was with her when she died for his namesake.

May the Lord Jesus guide you, Oh Muslims
And enlighten your hearts that you might love others
The forum does not revile the Master of the prophets
It is for the display of truth, and for you it was revealed
This is the truth which you do not know
What we profess are the words of the Master of the prophets
We do not worship the cross, and we are not possessed
We worship the Lord Jesus, the Light of the worlds
We left Mohammed, and we do not follow in his path
We followed Jesus Christ, the Clear Truth
Truly, we love our homeland, and we are not traitors
We take pride that we are Saudi citizens
How could we betray our homeland, our dear people?
How could we, when for death—for Saudi Arabia— we stand ready?
The homeland of my grandfathers, their glories, and odes—for it I am writing
And we say, “We are proud, proud, proud to be Saudis”
We chose our way, the way of the rightly guided
And every man is free to choose any religion
Be content to leave us to ourselves to be believers in Jesus
Let us live in grace before our time comes
There are tears on my cheek, and Oh! the heart is sad
To those who become Christians, how you are so cruel!
And the Messiah says, “Blessed are the Persecuted”
And we for the sake of Christ all things bear
What is it to you that we are infidels?
You do not enter our graves, as if with us buried
Enough—your swords do not concern me, not evil nor disgrace
Your threats do not trouble me, and we are not afraid
And by God, I am unto death a Christian—Verily
I cry for what passed by, of a sad life
I was far from the Lord Jesus for many years
Oh History record! and bear witness, Oh Witnesses!
We are Christians— in the path of Christ we tread
Take from me this word, and note it well
You see, Jesus is my Lord, and He is the Best of protectors
I advise you to pity yourself, to clap your hands in mourning

See your look of ugly hatred
Man is brother to man, Oh learned ones
Where is the humanity, the love, and where are you?
As to my last words, I pray to the Lord of the worlds
Jesus the Messiah, the Light of Clear Guidance
That He change notions, and set the scales of justice aright
And that He spread Love among you, Oh Muslims

My tire had a staple in it. Of all times for this to happen — a flat tire. But when is a good time for a flat tire? Not when you are wearing a suit and you have been traveling for nearly five hours and, adding to this bleak picture, nightfall is approaching.

Wait; did I mention that I was on a country road? Okay, now you have the picture. There was only one thing to do: call AAA. Yeah, right. The cell phone I bought for security and protection in moments like this isn’t in range to call anyone. “No Service” it says. No kidding!

I sat for a few minutes moaning and complaining. It’s a male thing. Then I began emptying my trunk so that I could get at the tire and tools needed to get the job done. I carry a large plastic container filled with what I call “just-in-case-stuff.” When I am training or speaking, I love to have props with me. I hate leaving anything home so I bring everything …just in case.

Cars buzz by me. A few beep sarcastically. I hear the horn saying “ha ha!” I say, “You’ll get yours!” Darkness begins to settle in. It’s becoming a bit difficult to see. The tire is on the passenger side, thank God, away from all the traffic, but making it difficult to benefit from the headlights of passing cars.

Suddenly a car pulls off the road behind me. In the blinding light I see a male figure approaching me. “Hey, do you need any help?” “Well, it certainly isn’t easy doing this with a white dress shirt and suit on,” I said. Then he steps into the light. I literally was frightened.

This young guy was dressed in black. Nearly everything imaginable was pierced and tattooed. His hair was cropped and poorly cut. He had leather bracelets with spikes on each wrist. “How about I give you a hand?” he said. “Well, I don’t know . . . I think I can . . . ” “Come on, it will only take me a few minutes.” He took right over. While watching him I happened to look back at his car and noticed for the first time someone sitting in the passenger seat. That concerned me.

I suddenly felt outnumbered. Thoughts of car-jackings and robberies flashed through my mind. I really just wanted to get this over and survive it.

Then, without warning, it began to pour. The night sky had hidden the approaching clouds. It hit like a waterfall and made it impossible to finish the tire change. “Look, my friend, just stop what you’re doing. I appreciate all your help. You better get going. I’ll finish after the rain stops,” I said.

“Let me help you put your stuff back in the trunk. It will get ruined,” he insisted. “Then get in my car. We’ll wait with you,” he insisted. “No, really. I’ll take care of everything,” I said.

“You can’t get in your car with the jack up like that. It will fall. Come on. Get in,” he said as he grabbed my arm and pulled me toward the car. Crack! Boom! Lightning and thunder roared like a freight train. I literally jumped in his car. “Oh, God, protect me!” I thought to myself.

Wet and tired I settled into the back seat. Suddenly a small frail voice came from the front seat of the car. “Are you all right?” she said as she turned around to face me. “Yes, I am,” I replied with much relief seeing the old woman there. It must be his Mom.

“My name is Beatrice and this is my neighbor Jeff,” she said. “He insisted on stopping when he saw you struggling with the tire.” “I am grateful for his help,” I said. “Me, too!” she said with a laugh. “Jeff takes me to visit my husband. We had to place him in a nursing home and it’s about 30 minutes away from where we live. So, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, we have a date.” She laughed and shook her head.

“We’re the remake of the Odd Couple,” Jeff said as he joined in laughing.”

“Jeff, that’s incredible what you do for her. I would never have guessed, well, ah, you know I . . .” I stumbled with the words.

“I know. People who look like me don’t do nice things,” he said. Silence. I really felt uncomfortable. I never believed that I judged people by the way they dressed. I was angry with myself for being so stupid.

“Jeff is a great kid. I’m not the only one he helps. He’s a volunteer at our church. He also works with the kids in the learning center at the low income housing unit in our town,” said Beatrice.

“I’m a tutor” Jeff said quietly as he stared at my car. Silence again played a part now in a moment of reflection rather than the uncomfortable feeling that I had insulted someone. He was right. What he wore on the outside was a reflection of the world as he saw it. What he wore on the inside was the spirit of giving, caring and loving the world he wanted to see.

The rain stopped and Jeff and I changed the tire. I tried to offer him money and of course he refused it. As we shook hands I began to apologize for my stupidity.

He said, “I experience that same reaction often. I actually thought about changing the way I look. But then I saw this as an opportunity to make a point. So I’ll leave you with the same question I ask everyone who takes time to know me. If Jesus returned tomorrow and walked among us again, would you recognize Him by what He wore or by what He did?

1 Samuel 16:7 “But the LORD said to Samuel, ‘Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart’.”
